Did Elizabeth Warren Lose Her Progressive Creds Last Night?
Did Elizabeth Warren lose her progressive credentials last night?
According to some of the people commenting on this article, she may have.
I find myself ambivalent over her failure to endorse Bernie. It's not like it would have significantly increased the number of delegates he got from Mass. Still, she seems like a natural to back Sanders.
I guess I have enough respect for Warren to give her the benefit of the doubt. I imagine we'll understand in time why she held out. I hope it's a good reason.

You get progressive credentials by what you do, and I think Warren's track record in the Senate speaks for itself. People who back Bernie do so because they like his message, not because some other politician likes him too. Warren isn't under any obligation to endorse any presidential candidate.

A shot at Hilary's VP?

Who knows? For my money, a VP spot would be a demotion for someone shaping up to be a very powerful senator.
It may be she knows she will need to work with the next democratic president to implement reforms she backs.

This is my suspicion as well.

No. Elizabeth Warren is still a strong progressive, and she is the only female U.S. Senator who hasn't endorsed Hillary yet.

However, she is old enough to remember George McGovern. Voters do not want a candidate with extraordinary ideas. The want a candidate with below average ideas like that Canadian guy or else somebody loaded with bombast like the Republican frontrunner.
by the way, tomorrow at the Hinckley Institute of Politics, Mitt Romney might announce his availability as the White Horse savior of the GOP.

Lyndon Johnson did that as did Joe Biden. Both were very powerful Senators. Depending on the dice roll, being a VP can be a shortcut to the Presidency.

Actually Clinton/Warren is horrible ticket balancing. Warren gets them what, exactly? The Atlantic Coast liberal white woman's vote? The ONLY thing that Warren brings to the ticket is gravitas when it comes to consumer issues and financial reform. It will be interesting to see what specific financial reform packages Republicans will fight for after their convention. I doubt very much Hillary Clinton will have to worry about losing votes on the left in this election. Her biggest concern is keeping the left energized enough to vote. But watching the Republican Convention in Cleveland may be energizing enough for the left.
It'll be fascinating to watch how the Republican Party in general and Donald Trump in particular would react to and all female Democratic Ticket. They are already skating on thin ice with a lot of women voters. Could you imagine? Clinton/Warren versus Trump/Christie!

Good point Quasi. Lyndon Johnson was the most powerful Senator. His ties and know-how made him incredibly effective as Vice President and President. It took a heap of political maneuvering to get the Civil Rights Act and Medicare passed. He knew exactly what enticing pork belly projects could be given for needed votes.
John Huntsman as a running mate could attract the rational moderate vote. It might attract many who are shaking their heads on how the ultra far right has come to rule the Republican party. As to whether he would run, what better does he have to do? He is reviled by the Republican leadership in Utah. Cliven Bundy has more pull in Tea Party Conservative circles than Huntsman.
