I had to have two sections worked on. The first was last week. She did the injection. I had to have it twice because it didn't numb enough. Now, that's not all that unusual for me, but it could also have been a faulty technique on her part.

2) I have had an injection hit a nerve and wow the pain! but nothing like your reaction.

It was crazy! Apparently it's a rare side effect, but I'll always think it was her fault, which means I'll never trust her to do that again if needed. She did the anatomy check and everything and still, this happened. The rest of the procedure was fine.

3) My current dentist uses a gum vibrator while he does injections. I don't feel them at all. Furthermore he injects in several places, takes his time placing the novocaine and now I've had several root canals without any gas. I used to need gas for cleanings! I didn't believe him when he told me he didn't think I would need gas the first time. He said I could have it if I wanted it, but asked if I would try his method first. No pain whatsoever.

I've never had gas at all. I think that the local in this case, was a nerve block. I'm pretty sure I've had it before, but never had this problem. So the doc told her to switch to a different kind where the pokes are all around the two teeth I needed help with. Those worked just fine.

Another issue for me is that she didn't seem to know what to do when I put both hands up to signal her to stop and told her about the double vision. She asked me if I wanted to sit up. How would I know if that was the appropriate thing to do? For all I knew, not having an anatomy class, if I sat upright whatever it was going on could travel to my heart. I'm not being alarmist...I'm just saying I didn't know if something worse could happen. It was me that had to request the doc come in and I didn't like that either.

Now, I don't know a lot about LA or the side effects. I've never had a side effect from an injection. My immediate thought was that I was going to pass out so I better say it quick. How would I know if I were going to pass out, have a stroke or anything else? That's her job to know what could happen and all she said at first was that the optic nerve wasn't in the same location.

My thought was that she should have responded immediately in some way and if she needed to get the doc (out of her depth), she should have done it on the spot because his room is adjacent to the room I was in and there's only a partition wall...she could have talked right to him and said, "Doctor, I need you to step in." or whatever.

4) chik fil a. gross. for so many reasons but primarily that stupid name.

Awww...you don't like Chik? Well, I didn't have enough time for Panera or anything else. I go to Chik about every 6 months, I'd guess. I don't eat out a lot because fat/carbs. When the counter girl told me they didn't have cole slaw any more I said, "Oh no, that's the best thing you guys do!"

I'm fine, thanks! The only problem I had afterwards was feeling wiped out from the intensity of what happened.

That man in the kilt was a dead give away. I mean, he wore the Gordon tartan and everything. What am I stupid? I should have introduced myself to him because he might have been a piper and I want a piper for when my ashes are scattered. So if I had his business card in my purse when I died at the dentist, my family could know that was my piper and get him to play for my ashes.

I had everything I needed right in front of me if I died and failed to recognize it. So I guess that's why I didn't die yesterday.

I think my dentist always does the injections. I'm not sure. I get gassed.

I don't know if I've ever been gassed. Maybe wisdom teeth extraction? I think I had an IV for that.
