As I understand it, you have no one to care about. You will always be lost on your own. Dogs are nonjudgmental and may be the only creatures that give unconditional love. That may be something you need.

Why does someone else need to do the so-called leg work? Most work-at-home computer jobs that I'm aware of can be applied for from -- you guessed it -- a computer at home. It takes far less "work" to find stay-at-home computer work than it does to do the actual work.

Last week, I made $5.23 dinking around on Amazon's Mechanical Turk whenever I was bored (doing surveys, psychology studies, etc.). My cousin lives in a very rural area (the town she lives in doesn't have so much as a gas station), so finding work that doesn't require a very long commute can be difficult. As a solution, she does medical billing from home. The application, and interview process all took place from the comfort of her living room.

Basically, what I’m saying is that if you want, I’m certain you can find some form of online work within a week (I've heard that there are even some telemarketing jobs now that can be done at home).

Depending on how fast and accurate you are with typing, and a 10-key, it might end up averaging below minimum wage though (most online jobs, outside of virtual assistant positions, are volume/commission based), but conservatives tend to be against minimum wage anyway, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

He can't afford to feed himself, let alone a dog.

Somehow I doubt that.

A month's supply of dog food is less expensive than a bottle of the cheapest generic anti-depressants and is a fraction of the cost of an hour with a psycho-therapist.

That being the case, can he afford not to get a dog?

I can't believe people are advocating he get a dog. I'd never put a dog in his care. He can't even wipe his own ass, and you people would put an innocent animal into his care?

faqs could conceivably recruit the dog to alleviate this problem for him. It's one less thing that he'd have to do for himself.

I sure as hell wouldn't put a companion animal in his care. He's not willing to care for himself. Some of the comments on this thread, while well intended, aren't facing the reality that folks are talking to someone who isn't remotely interested in improving his health.

What made me think of it was an article I read recently about a lonely, very overweight man who's psychologist suggested he rescue a pet that needed a home. His newly adopted dog was also middle aged and overweight. The love and responsibility he felt for his new friend helped them both overcome their problems. A success story that made me think of faqs.

There are over a million dogs euthanized in animal control facilities and shelters every year. I thought that this may give at least one poor dog a chance for survival and could give faqs a reason to live and become healthier. It was just a thought.

It's definitely thoughtful on your part. I just have zero faith in him.
