Carlin hit the nail on the head every time he held forth about this country. Who is in control and why, the nature of politics, the economy, etc.

Carlin was a mediocre comic....mostly just a grumpy old cynic.
What was most funny about him was how the depth of his anti-corporate convictions was best revealed by his shill for 10-10 numbers

For a long time I wondered how it was that Congress could have a 9% approval rating and incumbents keep getting reelected. Then I learned it was two things:

- gerrymandered districts
- legacy voting

Because so many (most?) people vote along party lines rather than actually evaluating candidates' policies, you can actually draw lines around areas that traditionally vote a certain way, and you will likely be reelected if that way favors your party, no matter how much you suck at the job.

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's the "my daddy voted [party x], and his daddy did, and his daddy did before him, so I do too." That's what really "F"s over democracy.

Unchecked tradition is poison.
