Ajax's weird belief that college students don't work and Stalinist attitudes towards work and political representation aside, what these laws do is disproportionately burden different groups in the ease of voting. The intent and practical effect is to disproportionately target groups that are more likely to vote Democrat - specifically poor people and especially urban poor people. College students and the very old also are hit harder. This is meant to reduce turnout rates enough to swing elections at the margins.

There's no way to craft a voting system where it is equally easy for everyone to vote, but the question is how unequal and intentionally targeted you can get before it becomes unjust. If you think this is fine, you should know that is more burdensome than the poll taxes, etc. of Jim Crow that were specifically shot down because of their unequal and targeted nature. That's essentially what you are lining up behind. The South shall rise again, eh?

That would have been an awesome option. As it was, I filled the hours around my crazy class schedule in university with three jobs because that's what paid the bills and tuition. Now I don't know if I'll ever revert back to more than 5 hours of sleep a day. : )

Read what it says dumass it said they were mostly students who HAD ID. They were legally registered to vote in that state but were denied because they were students from out of state. Republicans design their stupid laws so it becones more difficult for people to vote, particularly the educated.

NO NO NO it did not say that...it speculated that, it implied that, but it actually offered no proof of that...in fact the only evidence your article provided was for a 94 year old woman, who was NOT a college student.

Your article offered not even one quote from a college student nor did it offer any evidence/proof/citation/reference for its own claim that college students "reported" any denials.

Rice, because Rice would keep supporting the usual racist policies. They'd also prefer black folks like Herman Cain or Ben Carson, because they too would keep supporting racist policies. Of course, they don't actually understand them to be racist because they themselves are not racists. But the policies are effectively racist because they always harm the poor and minorities.
