Minus the leprechaun part, sounds about right.
If you must try it, get your hands on some cheap American light lager, then add green food coloring to a glass. Open up the cheap American lager. Pour it down the sink. Wash the food coloring out of the glass. Find some real beer and drink it. Presto. Instant St. Patty's day celebration.
