Petition to allow Open Carry at Republican Convention

Post by _MeDotOrg »

Over 24,000 people have signed a petition to allow open carry of firearms at the Republican Convention. So let's see if the RNC wants to turn Cleveland into a NRA Disneyland.

By the logic of the NRA, open carry should allow the Quicken Center to become the safest place in Cleveland. The thought of armed Cruz and Trump supporters on the floor of a brokered convention would make this a piece of political theater worthy of a Quentin Tarantino movie.

Sounds like there could be a Darwinian mass extinction. I say let them have their guns; let the crazies thin each other out. I won't be there.

I figured you for one of the Moveon.org protesters. I hope none of the protesters show up in Cleveland.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Considering stories like this one from the '76 convention where Reagan challenged Ford -

People talk about how upset people are with Washington, but they were back then too, especially coming on the heels of the Watergate," Sears says. "There's a great deal of anti-Washington feeling."

So by the time the convention rolled around, Hess says, "they came to Kansas City ready to brawl."

...

"There were moments of incredible frustration and, yes, even physical altercations on the floor of the convention," she says.

But one moment stood out from the rest.

"I happened to be standing right next to the New York delegation where Vice President Nelson Rockefeller and his New York delegation, they were all supporting Gerry Ford," Compton says. "Rockefeller was so angry [that] somebody yanked the New York delegation telephone off its stand, out of its moorings, trashed it right there on the convention floor in fury."

"That telephone was Nelson Rockefeller's lifeline to the command headquarters," she says. "This is how they coordinated. It was so crowded on the convention floor, you couldn't even walk over to another delegation so that shows just the extent to which tempers flared."

All the Cruz operatives have to do is point at the Trump delegates and loudly announce, "Thar be the protestors!" Talk about pandemonium when the gunfire erupts.

Hope everyone remembers to bring both their aluminum foil hats and their Kevlar vests.

Reagan was lucky that he didn't win that challenge with Ford, because I don't think that Reagan could have defeated Carter in November of 1976.
