"Prominent members of Glasgow’s Muslim community have called for calm and solidarity following the fatal stabbing of a shopkeeper whose messages of interfaith harmony united his multicultural community.
Police have confirmed that the man arrested in connection with Thursday evening’s killing – which is being treated as “religiously prejudiced” – was also a Muslim.
Following the revelation, Humza Yousaf, the Scottish government’s only Muslim minister, immediately responded in a tweet: “No ifs, no buts, no living in denial – vile cancer of sectarianism needs stamped out wherever it exists – including amongst Muslims.”"

If I could make one a priori rule for religion, it would be that God doesn't want you to kill anybody. Just think if every major religion had practiced that.

AMEN!
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I would like to see more of this kind of thing happening as in this news story from last year. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-norway-muslims-jews-idUSKBN0LP0AG20150221

It's been my experience that the most sincere Muslims are willing to call out their fellow Muslims on sectarian violence. It's a slight wonder why so many left leaning folks are reluctant to follow their lead. in my opinion, this is a valid example where trying to be PC is getting in the way of progress.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Well sure.
The problem is that until god makes an appearance, we're left to our imaginations to divine what he wants. It's a tricky problem, given everybody's god is different... personal. If the person is a psychopath, turns out his god is too.
