Gary Johnson

Post by _Some Schmo »

Take a look at Gary Johnson's issue page.

I'd heard of him before (I'm pretty sure EA's mentioned him a couple times) but was curious as to his stance on the issues. I read through all of them and I actually agree with most of his stated positions (not all, of course - his stance on education is worrisome, for instance).

Assuming Bernie doesn't get the nomination, I might just go this way. Johnson's not perfect, but so far, he certainly seems better than the lesser evil. I'll be adding him to my news feed to learn more.

By the time Barack Obama leaves office, the national debt will be $20 TRILLION. That is not just obscene, it is unsustainable — and arguably the single greatest threat to our national security.

Real reductions to bring spending into line with revenues, without tax increases.

Lol. I just read this first sentence of your link. I don't think you're going to like Gary Johnson much.

More broadly, Gov. Johnson believes there is no role for the Federal Government in education. He would eliminate the federal Department of Education, and return control to the state and local levels. He opposes Common Core and any other attempts to impose national standards and requirements on local schools, believing the key to restoring education excellence in the U.S. lies in the innovation, freedom and flexibility that federal interference inherently discourages.

Geez, this guy is as radical as Ajax18. This position is downright awesome and sadly impossible.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

My sympathies, Schmo. I've tried to like Johnson but have a lot of problems with the education issues. I have even more problems with Sanders, Clinton, Trump and Cruz. Libertarianism is an antiposition, an antidote rather than a model, a check in the checks and balances. There has never been a successful libertarian state. It's a paradox. I don't have an answer.
