You know, I am a KILT fan...

Mr Iain Lindsay OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Hungary in succession to Mr Jonathan Knott, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Lindsay is expected to take up his appointment during April 2016.

Mr Lindsay has been Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain since 2011. He joined the FCO in 1980 and has served in Warsaw, Doha, Tokyo (twice), Canberra, Bucharest and Hong Kong. He was awarded an OBE in 2002.

On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Hungary Mr Lindsay has said:

I am delighted and honoured to be appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Hungary. The UK and Hungary are friends, partners and allies. I look forward to working with the Hungarian government and people to strengthen our relations even further.
Then, he changed to Hungarian:

Yesterday (the Day of Poetry) he recited a Hungarian poem:

Not only a true scotsman; he is a true ambassador.
