Charlie Gard

Post by _subgenius »

As if all of Trump's tweets deserved attention

Charlie suffers from an extremely rare mitochondrial disease that is typically fatal. With no treatment available in the U.K. to save the 10-month-old, Charlie's parents raised a stunning $1.6 million so they could travel to the United States for experimental treatment. But the parents' fight to save their son was stopped by European courts, which sided with Charlie's doctors who say the 10-month-old must stay put and be removed from his life support; Charlie's parents mustn't pursue possibly life-saving treatment because he must "die with dignity," ruled the courts.

Will KG and his butt-hurt posse please remind us all of how wonderful the UK healthcare system is? (You know like usual, with a blatant disregard for actual facts and stuff)

Kindly read the material I have just posted on the other thread, follow the links and review the evidence given in the relevant cases, and then get back to us, OK?

Or you can just crawl back under your stone. It's all the same to me, frankly.

looks like the point of the OP is to say Trump fears kids with disabilities.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

It is not just that he was too stupid or (more likely) too lazy or uncaring to go to the effort of doing so. He jumped to the snap, ill-informed judgment that the only plausible reason that the British government was reluctant to approve sending Charlie Gard to the U.S.A. for the experimental treatment was their supposedly evil, liberal, and incompetent public healthcare system, without even trying to inform himself of the particulars of the case. It is just another manfestation of his bigoted attitude towards anything or anyone he regards as liberal.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

And of course the decision made in this case (by three layers of UK judges, all the way up to the Supreme Court) has nothing to do with the UK's arrangements for paying for health care. The result would have been the same even if this child's parents were paying for private health care for him. Money was not a factor in the decision: it was simply a question of the court being asked whether the very remote possibility of a small prolongation of what is almost certainly a very uncomfortable existence outweighed the certainty of further suffering for this unfortunate little person.

And given the highly specialist care he has needed, it is likely that they would still have sent him to Great Ormond Street in any case, since it provides paediatric services unmatched by any private clinic.

Nope, but the poster claimed that specific information existed elsewhere and it is not my burden to support their claim

Clearly only an idiot would fail to recognize the OP's mention for how the court was involved in the "particulars"....but please, since you spoke up, inform everyone of the "particulars" which absolve the healthcare system under which Charlie's life is beholden to....because only an idiot would make claims on this topic without knowing these "particulars", correct?
