"The fact that President Putin and I discussed a Cyber Security unit doesn't mean I think it can happen. It can't-but a ceasefire can,& did!"

Trump doesn't know his own mind. To be fighting off accusations he's in cahoots with Russian meddling in the 2016 election by hacking into DNC computers, and then propose to Putin at G20 for both sides to form a cyber security unit to protect from that happening again shows how effed up he is in the head.

The guy is unfit to be Commander in Chief. He's throwing our country under the bus. He's effing insane.

It doesn't amaze me that Trump got elected. It will amaze me if he stays in office given his inability to govern and protect vital interests including keeping us safe from our sworn enemies.

I don't feel safer since he took office. It feels like this country is on the brink of catastrophe each and every day since Jan 20th.

Trump: I 'pressed' Putin, will create cybersecurity unit ...

Um, no. He didn't say he "will create" anything.

Oh Jesus H Christ Jersey Girl, seriously?

OK, sorry, he didn't use the word "create." He said "form" instead. So glad you split that hair for us as it completely changes the meaning, right?

He didn't say he wanted anything at all.

Feelings and emotions, in many ways, directly impact balance and reason.

At times, it can often be the catalyst that allows hysteria to trump everything (No pun intended)

I think that has everything to do with the way news is being delivered to us and his ridiculous tweet storms.

Kevin Graham wrote:Incidentally, my "Christian Conservative" mother posted another idiotic meme about Obama being a Muslim just two days ago, and it was welcomed by a few dozen old white posters who said things like, "We should execute all Muslims now in America." I ____ you not. And she clicked "like." This isn't about morality, it is about fear and hatred. These people for all their talk about Liberals being sensitive snowflakes, are the most triggered and frightened people on the planet.

While I certainly understand why you would try to use your mother's Facebook post as the cement to attach American conservatives to "We should execute all Muslims now in America.", I find it to be, at best, extremely irrational and enormously irresponsible on your part. At worst? Well, I won't go there.

What would you say if I tried to cement your "ex-Mormon progressive" personal and individual comments to the entire collection of ex-mormon progressive American citizens in this country?

Well, you don't even have to provide an answer because I would never be as irrational, unbalanced, and unreasonable to take a single person's view (on anything) and apply said view to the entire huge body of diverse Americans that rest under the progressive umbrella.

by the way - I realize that we see things completely differently but I really want to make a suggestion to you. I hope that it's okay to do so. for what it's worth, I sincerely mean the following.

You don't need to post such negative things about your parents on this board (I have seen you do this on more than one occasion and I cringe every time I read it). Your positions, in every case and no matter what your positions happen to be, are not strengthened by doing this. At all. There are countless ways that you can make your points and defend your stances without bringing your mother and father into the mix.

Lastly, I would encourage you to consider making an effort to repair things with your parents. In my mind, politics should never be the reason that children are estranged from their parents - and/or parents estranged from their children. Never. Ever.

Just consider it.

Thanks for replying.

Fair enough.
Stand away!

Your side is brainwashed, amigo, to shoot themselves squarely in the foot and feel patriotic while doing it.

(I wouldn't choose the word "brainwashed", but I will accept it for our engagement)

I am confident that my side of the political arena (conservatives) posses plenty of brainwashed Americans. I am just as confident, however, that the other side has their fair share of brainwashed Americans as well. Thus, in my opinion, the root of the many problems and toxic rhetoric that is alive and well in today's American politics.

And I'm right there with you. However, we're on a thread discussing a President that had the full enough support of the Conservative elements to get him elected. That's why I'm not engaging in whataboutism and keeping my comments focused on his words, actions, policies, etc... Because it's relevant to this thread.

Maybe you should do a better job of comprehending before stepping outside your bubble of posting animated gifs and pithy comments. It wasn't just my Mom's post, it was the responses to her posts. And this isn't an isolated case base on one person but rather a long history of consistent behavior by an entire culture of Right Wing idiocy. I've watched it evolve for more than two decades now. So there is nothing irrational about my analysis which gets more support every day FOX news airs. And this isn't something that's unique to my family, it is happening everywhere.

You don't need to post such negative things about your parents on this board (I have seen you do this on more than one occasion and I cringe every time I read it). Like I'm supposed to believe you give a flying damn about my parents or me. I'm sure what bothers you the most about my use of my parents as an example is that it doesn't allow for you to easily dismiss it as something I'm assuming. I see it every day practically. I knew my parents before the FOX News age and back then they couldn't give a rats ass about flying an American flag (we never owned one), owning guns (we never owned one), canceling newspaper subscriptions because they were Liberal, etc. Hell, before the FOX News age all they ever had to say about military people was negative comments because my biological Father was in the military 30+ years. The fact that he had two purple hearts didn't impress them at all. But I go to Brazil six years and come back and it is like aliens have taken over their bodies. Now anyone in a uniform is treated like Jesus Christ. My parents were always racists, but since the FOX News age that racism has only been amplified. They are emboldened and gleefully embrace their racism and dismiss all arguments against it as the liberal evil of "political correctness." It isn't just my view either, it is also what my sister's kids say too. They're embarrassed to go to the mall with grandma because she cannot control herself when she sees brown people. They're either illegal aliens or terrorists.

My argument is that Right Wing media in the form of FOX and dozens of talk radio shows, has made this initial sickness into a vile cancer and it spreads like wildfire with every passing day. Calling me irrational for pointing out the obvious only tells us how little you really care about the problems on the Right. I live in Red State Georgia where they still have Tea Party meetings held at the local government buildings. Everywhere I look there is a pickup truck with a "Trump that Bitch" sticker or some other variant.

But more to the point, virtually everyone I knew growing up never had any particular education on politics, nor did they ever care about the subject until the turn of the century. I return from Brazil and suddenly these same people are as passionate about their Right Wing views and their hatred of the Left as they are about fishing, guns, their new rims and their latest tattoos. Now, so what happened in the interim? They didn't go to school during that time, and if they had, they would have likely held views that leaned left. So why did they suddenly become surrogates for all that is Right Wing?

Well, because blue collar workers listen to a lot of radio, and WSB 95.5 is the most listened to station in Georgia. It consists of wall to wall, back to back Right Wing talk shows. And not the intellectual kind, but rather the borderline Alex Jones kind.

9:00-11:00 am The Herman Cain show
11:00-12:00pm The Von Haessler Doctrine
12:00-3:00 pm Rush Limbaugh
3:00-5:00 pm Sean Hannity
5:00-7:00 pm Erick Erickson
12:00-3:00am Kilmeade & Friends

Now I occasionally listen to this station just to see what the latest nonsense is they're spreading. It was last week when I heard Erick Erickson talking about Charlie Gard and how the evil left wing philosophy of "human life means nothing special" was the problem in Europe. I just turned it off, but then thought to myself that this is the kind of crap people are listening to all day and it explains much about the way our local society really is. The very next day subgenius, who says he is from Atlanta area, posts about Charlie Gard. Gee, coincidence? These people are told what to think and they let Right Wing media mold their minds like putty.

Lastly, I would encourage you to consider making an effort to repair things with your parents. In my mind, politics should never be the reason that children are estranged from their parents - and/or parents estranged from their children. Never. Ever.

And how would you suggest I go about doing that? They are the ones who insist on bringing up politics whenever they feel like it, doesn't matter to them if it is in my home or who is present. For all your talk about division in America and giving a damn about its cause, they are the ones who spread the news about my Liberalism to all extended family throughout the South East. As a result I've no longer been invited to family reunions or weddings and even information about funerals is kept from me.

I deleted my kids from my Mom's Facebook because I found out the stuff they were reading. She has been off of my Facebook for about 8 years now and I thought the crap she was posting back then was bad, but after reading it again recently it seems to have gotten much worse. And they, even after Republicans have taken over Washington. She's still posting Obama memes because it has become such a way of life for these idiots that they really don't know how to live any other way.

So should I keep exposing my kids to such vile comments as "Kill all Muslims" and "Niggers are taking over"? by the way, my kids are 12, 10 and 4. Not that my Mom is posting these remarks, but she is posting idiotic memes that invite such remarks by her 2,000+ Facebook "friends" (none of whom she has ever met and probably never will) and then she "likes" them. She knows that her kids understand that her Dad is a Liberal, and yet she'll post memes saying things like Liberals are not real Americans. I really think there are many psychological factors at play here as to why people who have had no social life or real friends are suddenly becoming addicted to Facebook life. She must be getting a high from all the likes and supporting comments she gets from her racist memes. Must make them feel better to know that there are million of people out there who are like minded. The only silver lining to all of this is that they're mostly old people who will be dead in another decade. At that point the world will become a much better place.
