Republican donor and operative from Chicago's North Shore who said he had tried to obtain Hillary Clinton's missing emails from Russian hackers killed himself in a Minnesota hotel room days after talking to The Wall Street Journal about his efforts, public records show.
In a room at a Rochester hotel used almost exclusively by Mayo Clinic patients and relatives, Peter with. Smith, 81, left a carefully prepared file of documents, which includes a statement police called a suicide note in which he said he was in ill health and a life insurance policy was expiring.
To be clear, I'm not saying that his suicide was not a suicide. I don't think he was the victim of foul play. Just another interesting note in this unfolding tableaux.

Do life insurance policies pay out in cases of suicide? I wonder if he checked that before pulling his own plug.

On the subject of Drumpf's Russia connection, I find it difficult to take the word of a man who is known for trying to obtain Clinton's personal emails from hackers.

I know what you're saying, and there are certain things I would imagine are being investigated as we uh...type. I just do not want to see people get out in front of the story. Did his life insurance pay in the event of a suicide? I don't know. As I said, I've seen nothing to indicate his death was not a suicide. That does not mean that people are not investigating his death, and given the circumstances, I would think that to be a prudent thing to do.

You might be misreading me. I'm not saying his death wasn't a suicide or that we should be highly skeptical that it was. I'm pointing out that his death is the stuff conspiracy theories are made of, so I imagine the theorists are hard at work.
Heck, I could see the people who think the Clintons routinely kill people about to expose them, but somehow have left Anthony Weiner alive, interpreting his death as another Clinton hit.
Putin, of course, does actually murder people so those conspiracy theorists have a head start.
