3 Of the Biggest Problems In America Today
1. CNN
2. Fox News
3. MSNBC
All 3 of them are toxic, divisive, destructive and insane!
Yes, America has more problems than this but if we could destroy these three things, completely and forever, it would a be great first step for America and all of its citizens.

Re: 3 Of the Biggest Problems In America Today
I can definitely agree that I find most of the major broadcasts impossible to watch. I'm not sure if it is a product of trying to fill the void of the 24 hour news cycle or their appeal to the lowest common denominator of their viewership but I just don't find much there. It isn't much of a secret that if you want real, in-depth analysis you have to go to other outlets, typically in print.
As a branch to your OP, I think some of the "issue" with these networks is less to do with the networks per se and more to do with how people consume media now. The internet can be an amazing tool for finding both a wide range of view points or encasing yourself in only like minded voices. Unfortunately it feels like most people choose to do the latter and not the former and these networks (Fox and, to a lesser extent, MSNBC especially) feed into that problem.

There is too much preaching, editorializing and partisanship in the media world in general. Agendas, connections, nepotism, circle jerking, always a problem but now with higher stakes.

Is that because they give fake news?

Does Donald J. Trump agree with you?

Yes, most of cable news programs in this day of age is bad. Hannity has really gotten bad over this last year.
If people want to still get their news from watching TV, they are better off at watching ABC World News Tonight or NBC Nightly News than any of those three cable news stations.

Re: 3 Of the Biggest Problems In America Today
We used to have something called the Fairness Doctrine:
The fault lies not in the stars, but in ourselves.
Cable news networks cater to ratings. Conservatives don't want their news contaminated with liberal opinions. Ditto Liberal news with conservative opinions. News is reported, not to be fair, but to build a loyal viewership. And most viewers don't like to be challenged.
So what do we do? Bring back the Fairness Doctrine? The real danger is not the news you hear on CNN, Fox or MSNBC, it's the fact that you have to change channels to hear opposing points of view.
The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was—in the Commission's view—honest, equitable, and balanced. The FCC eliminated the policy in 1987 and removed the rule that implemented the policy from the Federal Register in August 2011

CNN and MSNBC do have a bias, but they are not fake news.
