RIP Anna Mae Hays

One of my favorite Army nurses growing up.
In the face of madness, rationality has no power - Xiao Wang, US historiographer, 2287 AD.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

WTF is wrong with you?

I can appreciate the occasional trolling, but Jesus.

What? I thought we were showing our love and appreciation for obscure people who demonstrate our open-minded, tolerant, and diverse political leanings?

The heck? Le Guin is a major figure in sci-fi/fantasy. The Earthsea trilogy, the first one, was a nerdy kid must read for decades. She's not obscure.

Sure. Totally. I'm a huge fan of Joanna Rus, too. RIP.

You're just bragging about barely or not knowing one of the most recognizable names in a whole genre of writing.

Every major newpaper covered her death. So did CNN, BBC, NPR, etc. You imagine this to be vitrue signaling rather than people mourning a famous, influential, and beloved author. Ok, buddy.

I don't know why you're so defensive right now, EA. I take it you're a huge fan of Vonda McIntyre?

Doc, in case you really are unaware of Le Guin and aren't just trolling, may I recommend one of her short stories, The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas. I found it hugely meaningful, and If I recall correctly, I have mentioned in a thread here before because of the subject matter. It's only 4 pages or so, you can read it online here:

Her writing is superb. Granted, I am really into sci fi, but still, her works occupy a significant place in my Library.

I'll check it out. I'm re-reading a Brave New World right now, so I'll queue it up!
