Liberals and American Patriotism - WTF is the problem
Why do liberals detest Americans that want to be excited and patriotic about their own country? Seriously?
The ACLU is upset that the President mentioned “America” over 80 times in the SOTU speech last night!

And democratic rep Gutierrez from Illinois walked out over patriotic chants of “USA” last night:

I really hope he kept walking — all the way to and across the El Paso bridge into Juarez. What a loser!
It’s really disappointing that these folks aren’t proud and/or excited to be here, in the greatest country on this planet.
Why is being excited to be an American such a problem for liberals!?!?!?

The ACLU is not upset that Pres. Trump used the word 'America.' They're not happy with what he's done to the concept of America.

The chants weren't the reason he left.
Gutierrez was born and raised in Chicago. Why would he walk to Mexico?

CFR for the unhappiness and CFR for this "concept".

because he is not happy with the concept of America?....or maybe because Mexico would be the same as "out of America"?

I have some good news for you, Bach. I know what the problem is: low levels of reading comprehension. While it is true that the ACLU article mentioned that the president used the word "America" over 80 times, the article didn't complain about it. The point of the article is their contention that the president has an exclusionary view of America and promotes policies that harm many vulnerable American communities. Saying America over and over is great. Harming American communities is not. That is their point.
I didn't figure this out by researching what the ACLU actually said from a less biased source. Rather, I did it by reading what cnsnews actually quoted. It appears that not only the author and editor of that piece lack basic reading comprehension skills, but many of their readers do as well. Otherwise, they would have been able to tell from the article itself how poorly reasoned it is.
So take heart in the fact that you are not alone.
Have you enquired about taking a reading comprehension class at the local community college? That might really help.

Setting aside your personal attack - can you name any truly American communities who have been harmed by being labled as an “ American” and why? You seem to claim greater comprehension skills than I do please demonstrate for all here.
Please list those communities being harmed by the term American and why:
List here:

You are kind to pretend that this misrepresentation is unintentional. ; )

While bach may be unique in his special level of apparent obtuseness, neither he nor CNS are so with regard to their deployment and repetition of purposefully disingenuous commentary.

I'm a lot more concerned that Trump did not mention "Russia" once. That's says a lot more about Donald Trump's sense of patriotism than saying "America" 80 times.

Before we begin lessons on remedial reading comprehension, we need to administer a placement test.
Please carefully read the following paragraph. When reading it, the first objective isn’t to judge whether the paragraph makes a good point or a true point. Rather, the objective is to understand what the point itself actually is. Only then can we evaluate whether it is a good point.
After reading the paragraph, choose the sentence that best represents the point of the paragraph.
------------------------------------------
Tonight, President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. Yet, after a divisive first year, we hear and feel how exclusionary that ‘America’ is, with policies that have harmed so many vulnerable American communities. The ACLU stands ready to protect these communities, both in the courts and at the polls.

- The author detests patriots that want to be excited and patriotic about their country.
- The author is upset that President Trump used the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech.
- The author believes truly American communities have been harmed by being labeled ‘American.’
- The author believes that President Trump’s policies have been exclusionary and have harmed some American communities
- None of the above.
