Having looked up the political demographics of the district, his odds of winning are roughly on par with an angry swarm of bees winning in a write in campaign.

He and I are friends on Facebook and I asked him about it because I remembered he had hinted at the possibility of running sometime last year. This is what he said when I asked if he was running:
I am. Utah house district 52. Already got a bank account set up and I’m putting my website together right now. Herriman’s not ideal for progressives, but I imagine it better than Utah county... You can pass it around. I’ve mentioned it in a few places. I haven’t filed yet, and I won’t make any formal announcements until I’ve got my website and signage all ready to go, but it’s not a secret.

Maklelan progressive? My dictionary is broken.
But I would love to see it. He's a bright guy, the Mormons need him, and I thought he brought a lot of interesting comments to the board.
