The media keeps saying we need more women to run for office. However, I feel we need more women in physical science, engineering, and computer science. Why? Because physical science, engineering, and computer science do more than politics for the progress of humanity. Science is superior because it can solve many of our world problems, unproven political ideologies will get us nowhere in our divided country.

A 2008 survey of US universities by the National Science Foundation revealed that less than 30 percent of PhDs in the physical sciences were awarded to women. Higher up the ranks, women make up only about 10 percent of full professorships in physics-related disciplines. Yet when psychologists Stephen Ceci and Wendy Williams of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y, sifted through 20 years of research, they found little evidence of continued gender bias in journal reviewers, granting agencies or hiring committees. Their analysis, published on February 7 (S. J. Ceci and W. M. Williams Proc. Natl Acad. Sci. USA doi:10.1073/pnas.1014871108; 2011), contrasts with reports that suggest overt discrimination remains a significant problem. https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti ... ap-probed/

While women receive over half of bachelor’s degrees awarded in the biological sciences, they receive far fewer in the computer sciences (17.9%), engineering (19.3%), physical sciences (39%) and mathematics (43.1%).

My wife has a PhD in Nuclear Science.
And she is a TBM.

Do - any of - You see any correlation? Women are weird beings...

why do we need more women in those fields?
I'm in full support of any person being free to choose whatever field they want to be in, but what's with the superficial and outdated call for quotas?
Nevertheless, is there a reason behind your call, other than "because genitalia"?

If we go strictly by the advent of Trumpian politics we might postulate that such politics lead to a devolution of humanity.

Since we need more women in hard sciences I propose forcing them into it against their own wills. Women will now lead the way in hard sciences because we'll remove their choice to pursue useless degrees like Communications, Psychology, SOCIAL WORK, Theatre Arts, Fashion Design, Sociology, Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Women and Gender Studies.

Nope. [deleted] get them into hard sciences since men are 100% totally barring them from exploring that avenue.

Not force them, but do more to encourage them to go for natural science, technology, and engineering. However, feminists organizations are more interested in having women in power. According to CNN

I was always propagator of real sciences against so called humanities (see The Two Cultures by C. P. Snow... )
But during reading this site - especially most of the members; sometimes some moderators hmmm -, I am certain that psychology has raison d'être !

O yeahhhh!
She doesn't believe any of my words, but the crossword items she is asking about...

To be serious:
She did select in the bookstore the "The 19th Wife". (look at it...)
Then - after counsels of her women friends - she didn't read it.

I did. I am a proud husband.

We know who all the gay male fashion designers are.

Where are all the lesbian string theorists?

All of the above is said tongue and cheek, but what I'm trying to say is that social stereotypes can limit the contributions of the sexes in our society. To the extent that men self-segregate against more traditionally female pursuits, or women self-segregating against traditionally male pursuits, we are limiting the contributions those people can make.
