Andrew McCabe was just fired

He was being allowed to hang-on until he became eligible for his pension, and the Trump admin just oversaw his termination 26 hours before that would happen.
The official reason is that McCabe allowed two of his underlings to speak to the press about his opening up investigation into the Clinton foundation, then lied about his authorization later on. The unofficial reason is probably his role with Comey in the Russia investigation.

The CNN article I first read about McCabe's firing in made the fact that his wife was a Democrat who ran for office into a legitimate he-said / she-said scandal. Apparently, being an senior level FBI agent who is married to a politically active Democrat is potentially scandalous. Whose to say? If they could find an actual Democrat among them, imagine how much more worse that'd be.

This ought to send chills down anyone's back when Trump... " appeared to revel in the termination, tweeting early Saturday that it was a ‘‘great day for Democracy’’ and a ‘‘great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI.’’
He's trying to kill this Russia investigation and by targeting the FBI's leadership he's hoping they'll kill it too in order to keep their jobs.
This is flat out wrong.

It is 100%. And it's also tampering. This is straight up what an aspiring dictator does. He's attempting to cow the FBI into submission. He sent a very strong message to other career FBI types when he fired a guy a day before his retirement kicked in.

On a separate note, the FBI's vesting system for pension seems really poorly thought out. Decent businesses don't create a cliff in retirement benefits based on a 26 hour difference. Normally you gradually go up in % vested based on time served.
