I wonder what Mormon musical acts were recording music in the same era, other than the Osmonds and the MoTabs?

That's rather subdued and tasteful.
I'd love to find a video of "Brigham!" starring Harve Presnell as the illustrious singing cult leader.

The young man in that poster is
Cameron Clarke. The musical was written by his half brother, Lex DeAzevedo. I knew Cam from the time his was about 8 years old, and it was clear to me even then that his was going to be gay. Cam was bright, talented and handsome. Girls loved him. As a Mormon teenager, Cam struggled with his identity.
Cam has been living gay for some time. He has had a successful career as a voice actor. I haven't seen him in many years, but I remember him as funny and caring.

I was in the choir for a local production of Saturday's Warrior when I was about 10 years old. One of the sister missionaries put it together and directed it. I remember it being one of the best times of my young life, and certainly one of the few positive experiences I had as a member of the church. I even remember thinking I liked the music.
Course, I also liked the Bee Gees version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band when I was a kid, so you can take a young Schmo's musical taste with a grain of salt. I should probably google it and remind myself of the soundtrack... or maybe a I shouldn't and let myself remember it fondly.
