Iowa governor signs abortion regulation

"Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds on Friday signed a law banning most abortions if a fetal heartbeat can be detected, or at around six weeks of pregnancy, marking the strictest abortion regulation in the nation — but setting the state up for a lengthy court fight. The Republican governor signed the legislation in her formal office at the state Capitol as protesters gathered outside chanting, "My body, my choice!"" https://www.kansascity.com/news/article210479899.html

Saying "My body, my choice" is a really dumb way to fight back. The conservatives don't want to control women's bodies, they only want to protect human life. For conservatives human life begins at conception.

I myself support abortion, but no one knows when human life begins. Modern medical science doesn't have an answer yet.

It depends on how you want to define what is a human life, and this is the game religious conservatives are playing to try and stop abortions.

This would be in accord with their slogan, "Get them born and then make them expendable".

I have nothing popular to say.

So conservatives only want to protect human life and believe that life begins at conception.

Or when the heart starts beating in Iowa.

Unless your mother was raped. Then we care more about your mother's feelings.

Unless she is unprepared to raise a child and chooses to terminate. Then we don't give two damns in hell about her feelings.

Maybe conservatives could try getting their story straight first and then stay out of the uterus once they've exited the first time.

What are more important, the feelings of a person, or the life of a person? You don't have to answer. Your post in my opinion shows the sides of both positions very clearly.

Both positions? My comments were intended to highlight the inconsistencies in the typical conservative position and how the shifting position makes no rational sense.

Why are you giving me a choice between the feelings vs the life of a person? Are you implying that both can't be equally important?

FYI my main position on this and all related sub topics are that the vast majority of conservatives are largely full of crap.

I consider myself to be conservative. That may not hold true in every position I take however, that the majority are full of crap is undeniable truth.

Here is where Iowa conservatives (Republicans) can take their state legislature vote and go to hell with it.

Ludowitz says Hillcrest's average adoption costs break down like this:

An average home study costs about$2000.
The placement fee can vary between $10,000 and $15,000.
Legal fees vary between $2000 and $5000.
And the post adoption fee can cost between $500 and $1000.

Fix that and get back to me.
