A study published on Science concludes that hurricanes are slowing down. "A highly significant global slowdown of tropical- cyclone translation speed is evident, of −10% over the 68-yr period 1949–2016"

Kossin, James P. "A global slowdown of tropical-cyclone translation speed." Nature 558.7708 (2018): 104

It is well established in science that warmer oceans produce stronger hurricanes, so Global Warming can't **** be a good thing. I have a relative living in North Carolina. **** the Republicans!

On a more concrete note, the Trump admin was recently caught redirecting millions in funds out of FEMA to ICE to pay for more prison camps.

That's your opportunity cost in asinine immigration enforcement endangering you in a easy to grasp way.

Oh yes it is. You are absolutely right! But propaganda and fake news are a big problem. I am going to be living in a warmer planet 50 years from now thanks to conservative Republicans.

Even without the help of conservative Republicans, this will almost certainly be a warmer planet 50 years from now, but it will probably be even more so because of the irrational refusal of those Republicans to acknowledge the overwhelming evidence of mankind's role in global warming.

People that have done actual "proper" studies on this subject, whether:
1. Storms are more frequent
2. Storms are more powerful

Have found that there is NO INCREASE in either for the last 100 years + of recorded history compared to now.
If you guys actually wanted the truth, you would look up those couple of studies.

I'm not convinced global warming isn't happening but I firmly believe their proposed regulations will do little if anything to stop global warming and will likely damage the US economy.

That’s the standard conservative line these days. Do you have some thoughts on the type and scale of damage these regulations would impose?

Another question - how do you feel about local or state governments taking a political hard line against the idea or mention of global warming to the extent that long-term planning considerations may be prohibited from considering the possible impacts? Do you see that as wise, or potentially damaging?

Last time i checked it wasn't the Republicans or the Democrats that controlled the climate. For example, not only does Anerica have a minor influence on global temperatures, but it is people like yourself.

Well, no one has mentioned a lack of FEMA funding ‘causing’ anything, so I’ll chalk that up to your usual reading comprehension difficulties for thinking so.

But, since you decided to become distracted:

As Hurricane Irma barrels toward Florida, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is on the brink of running out of cash for disaster relief and could be in the red by the end of the week.

The lack of money could force the agency to essentially start operating on IOUs if Congress doesn't act in time.

As of Tuesday morning, FEMA'S Disaster Relief Fund had just $1.01 billion left. Of that, $541 million was "immediately available" for response and recovery efforts related to Hurricane Harvey, according to a spokeswoman.
