Disinfomedia

A National Public Radio investigation has uncovered evidence that the majority of ‘fake news’ websites are run by a Democratic organization in California called “Disinfomedia”.
https://www.kqed.org/news/11187539/npr- ... ey-learned

Coler, a registered Democrat, says he has no regrets about his fake news empire. He doesn't think fake news swayed the election.

"There are many factors as to why Trump won that don't involve fake news," he says. "As much as I like Hillary, she was a poor candidate. She brought in a lot of baggage."

and to note (or pander) for the Libs on this board:

Coler says his writers have tried to write fake news for liberals -- but they just never take the bait.

Coler's company, Disinfomedia, owns many faux news sites -- he won't say how many. But he says his is one of the biggest fake news businesses out there, which makes him kind of like a godfather of the industry.

At any given time Coler says he's got between 20 and 25 writers. And it was one of them that wrote the story in the Denver Guardian that an FBI agent who leaked Clinton emails was killed. Coler says that over 10 days the site got 1.6 million views. He says stories like this work because they fit into existing right-wing conspiracy theories.

But remember, this guy doesn't think these types of stories influence elections....so, notwithstanding the stances many have already taken on the Anderson Cooper / Weather Man meme from another thread....is Coler correct?

Do you make serious money?

It depends on what you would call serious money. I think I do pretty well.

Can you say how well?

I would rather not. There have been some people who have been reported on recently. The folks in Long Beach that were doing just all-right stuff. They were reporting $10,000 to $30,000 a month. I think that's probably a relative ballpark.

This is a two year old story that was almost certainly discussed here. Liberals circles liked to crow about it because of the fake news proprietor argued that he tried, but failed to create liberal fake news, because they were just too darn smart to take the bait. Perceptive people noted that might just be a person adept at telling people false narratives they want to hear doing it again.

The headline you are leading with in this 2 year old story is false, though. The majority of fake news was not created by this one person's efforts.

How he could have thought his stories didn't influence elections but can also say:
I had considered my efforts at raising awareness about the need for fact-checking and holding news outlets accountable for doing their due diligence to be noble, but seeing the president himself falling victim to, and spreading, fictional stories made me realize my efforts were less than helpful. Discussions of potential global impact, the influence of foreign actors, and questions of shifting trust have reminded me of the importance of truth. I remain hopeful for the future of journalism, an industry I have always held in the highest regard, and look forward to what comes next in the information revolution.
(emphasis mine) Is a mystery to me.

subs just wanted to get in on the dishonesty campaign, both with his header and by implying - with his meme - that CNN is somehow claiming that fake news isn’t fake. SSDD.

The headline doesn't state "one person" and then the OP bothers to quote the cited article wherein - "...between 20 and 25 writers".

I think i know why liberals don't take the bait in a fake news story....they don't bother to read.

I did read that. This is the person who was the head of is particular organization and solicited his writing talent. He's the one who made it happen. I am saying the majority of fake news was not created by his efforts. Maybe you should bother to read. Also, it might help to read something that was written after November of 2016.

subs cannot comprehend what he reads well enough to distill it honestly into a post of his own, so expecting him to comprehend your response is asking a lot.

... the majority of ‘fake news’ websites are run by a Democratic organization in California ...

Just for fun, I'd ask for him to post the actual content from the NPR article that confirm his statement above, but he'll be incapable of doing that.

You go, Subgenius! With enough claims of fake news, people will surely to buy into this altered reality thing.
