"The $100 million Breakthrough Listen project will use the powerful MeerKAT radio-telescope array in the Karoo region of South Africa to search 1 million stars for signals from alien civilizations, project leaders announced today (Oct. 2)." https://www.space.com/41998-breakthroug ... erkat.html

I really hope scientists find ET soon.

Or perhaps that large space station orbiting in the Kolobian star system. Just listen for the code phrase Pele Ale.

DT, have you read Chixen Liu’s The Three Body Problem? It’s the first book of a trilogy that suggests a reason why the Universe is so quiet and why it might be rational for a civilization like ours to be vewy, vewy quiet. And, if you like science fiction, it’s a great set of books.

As a huge derail: I've been patiently awaiting to see if Amazon was actually able to procure the movie rights. I was very excited for what that project might produce.

Hadn't heard about that. Were they thinking of film or series?

Three season series was the rumor. Given that I haven't seen any news on it since March, the ludicrous price tag, and that I can't seem to find the original story that leaked it I'm getting skeptical it will happen.

A couple of links: https://io9.gizmodo.com/report-amazon-m ... 1824110293

As the gizmodo article discusses there is already a movie slated for this year in China but I haven't seen anything resembling a release date from Yoozoo (the current rights owner).
