From gerrymandering, to shenanigans like this...

ARIZONA REPUBLICANS POSE AS COMMUNISTS TO MAKE ILLEGAL DONATION TO DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMAN TOM O’HALLERAN’S CAMPAIGN

Dude caught on video making an illegal contribution by lying about who he is. He wanted a receipt saying he donated $39 from the Communist Party so he could then send it to Brietfart and the Federalist who they could in turn, trick morons like Water Dog and Ajax into making the lie go viral.

So, Leftists don't do false flag operations? Is that the takeaway, or are we just focusing on the Republicans?

Seems way more common on the right. There really is no equivalent on the left to how pervasive this culture is on the right. This is a one-off anecdote for sure, but deception in the name of a higher truth is prevalent in conservative culture at the moment. The question I have is how do you reverse that? I haven't seen a good answer.

I think the only unfair thing with your observation EA is that we have well-defined limits of unacceptable Republican 'extremism' whereas on the Left it's (intentionally?) left vague. We also have your assertion that Republicans or the Right does it much more than the Left, but how is that really quantifiable?

I don't think we have well-defined limits of unacceptable Republican extremism. Quite the opposite: what we sometimes think of as "extremism" has become so common in Republican culture that "extremism" is a bit of a misnomer. When Republican crowds were shouting "lock her up" in reference to Dianne Feinstein just the other day, that was "extremist" in a pejoritive sense, but it's also not surprising or out of touch with mainstream Republican culture.

It's probably quantifiable, but I haven't seen a calculation. My comment is based on experience with conservative culture, publications, etc. The political equivalent of "lying for the lord" exists on the left, but it's just so much more common on the right. And I don't mean simply looking at these James O'Keefe type stunts that keep percolating on the right, but even those are a bigger deal on the right. Remember the doctored planned parenthood tapes? Those drove national politics with real-world political outcomes for a window of time. That was a major deal in a way you just don't find equivalents successfully penetrating leftist discourse to the same extent.

I've linked a few blue chip studies on this before that argue that conservatives just care less about policing their preferred sources for truthfulness as compared to liberals because of different value sets. This has the implication that it is a problem of incentives, but I'm not sure if that's the right answer. I'm strongly inclined to think whatever goes on in religious apologetic culture has just taken over Republican culture too.

I saw this story on the news last night. Democratic Congressman Tom O'Halleran should easily win his re-election bid since his GOP Opponent Wendy Rogers is mostly a hard right-winger who is on tape saying that she wants to see Social Security phased out.

Here's Fox News reporting on an antifa attack. It both tells and shows the viewer that what happened is antifa showed up to a Republican headquarters in New York city with weapons and started a rampage of vandalism and hooliganism.

https://Twitter.com/FoxNews/status/1050953019708375041

What actually happened is white supremacists held a meeting at the Republican headquarters (think on that for a second), then spilled into the streets looking for fight where they viciously beat up some protesters. The person with the sword they show is the founder of the Proud Boys, the world's saddest white supremacist gang/brotherhood.

They know what they are doing and they don't care.

Kevin doesn't know how to spell "democrat" apparently.

140 House Democrats voted present or against Kevin McCarthy's resolution condemning localities across the United States for giving illegal aliens and noncitizens the right to vote in local elections.
