Pittsburgh kindly asked Trump to let the funerals be over before showing up for photo ops, but no, Trump has to be the center of attention.

Meanwhile, Mike Pence sparks outrage by having a Christian Rabbi speak at a prayer for the Jewish victims.

What a disgraceful couple these guys are. An embarrassment to our country.

??? Isn’t a “Christian Rabbi” the equivalent of a “vegan carnivore?”

Rafael Shimunov, who is on the board of directors for Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, tweeted that a Jewish rabbi would typically start a prayer with a Kaddish, a prayer for the dead, and a list of names of the deceased. Jacobs did not mention the names of any victims by name, but he did mention “Jesus the Messiah,” and “my Lord and Savior Yeshua” (another name for Jesus.) He also read a list of republican candidates for whom he asked the audience to pray.

These guys. Geez.

It is difficult for Gentiles who have never been close to a Jewish milieu to understand how offensive it will be to the relatives of the dead Jews shot in a Pittsburgh synagogue to learn that someone like Jacobs was chosen to pray for the murdered people, 'because he was a Jew'.

The tiny group of Christians of Jewish origin who describe themselves as 'messianic Jews', are regarded by religious Jews as, at worst, renegades, and at best a bunch of embarrassing exhibitionists.

At this point I can no longer assume that Team Trump is just mind-numbingly ignorant of such things. Rather, it appears that their response is a willful and premeditated dick move. Asking those present to pray for Republican candidates is just the whipped cream on top of the pie that they’re figuratively shoving in the faces of the deceased and their surviving relatives.

You mean the guy who's daughter married a Jew and also converted herself?

The guy who's first international visit as President was to Israel?

The guy who made history by relocating our embassy to Jerusalem?

The guy who visited the Wailing Wall while wearing a yamaka?

HE'S anti-semtitic?

I don’t know if you’re posing the question to me, Doc, but I’m not sure that anyone in the thread has claimed Pence (or Trump) to be anti-Semitic through this action.

That said, I don’t think that a person needs to be ‘anti-Semitic’ to pull a fully dick move like what Jacobs did, nor to be as insensitive to the situation as to have chosen Jacobs to speak in the first place. This might just require no more than insensitive, disrespectful, opportunistic dickishness. Of that, we may be able to accuse both Jacobs and the person who chose him to speak.

Elsewise, in some corners of the earth, the nature and theology of messianic Judaism are seen as anti-Semitic by some Jews. The link below gives an example.

Maybe you should have been there to tell them that at the service.
