Leaving the White House to go to Paris to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, which he anticipated "would be a very beautiful (?) period of time" (I would have gone with 'somber', but whatever...)

Our Commander in Chief wrote:The leadership of many countries will be there, especially since they heard the United States will be there.

So I guess a few of the countries were going to pass on the commemoration, until they heard the United States was coming? Excuse me, but Jesus H. Christ, does he really think the rest of the world needs the United States in order to remember World War I?

These are only a few words, but they speak volumes about the way Trump sees the world. There is no history, it's a popularity contest.

Gosh. 'The United States will be there'!

Louis 14th of France is said to have remarked at one point:

"L'état, c'est moi' (The state - that's me!). It was not an inaccurate summary of his political powers at the time he may have said it, in 1655.

Now Trump says, in effect 'The United States -that's me!'. I am happy to be able say with some conviction that he is wrong there, in both principle and practice. The true greatness of the United States is quite beyond his grasp: all he can do is to dirty it a little, and for a brief time. I am sure that one day there will not be a trace of his grubby fingers anywhere on it.

Besides, Louis handled his hair problem much more elegantly than DT:

I thoroughly agree, Chap.

He is NOT the United States. He is the antithesis of the United States and all it stands for.
