Fresh off a campaign to get Amazon to raise its minimum wage, Senator Bernie Sanders is now shining his progressive spotlight on Walmart.

Sanders on Thursday introduced a bill, titled the Stop Walmart Act, that would prevent large companies from buying back stock unless they pay all employees at least $15 an hour, allow workers to earn up to seven days of paid sick leave and limit CEO compensation to no more than 150 times the median pay of all staffers.

If my company doesn't get a free bonus check equal to roughly 48% of its annual profit, paid for by American taxpayers, then why should Walmart get one? Bernie's platform for increased benefits for America's middle class is hardly new. Targeting companies like Walmart who exist only because their power allows them to manipulate the system so taxpayers subsidize them, is also nothing new. The only idiocy I see is keeping the status quo and pretending everything is fine as is.

Meanwhile, the epitome of idiocy exists in the White House where the great Orange one says people need photo ID to buy cereal and he looks up at the sun without eyewear prior to an eclipse.

The idea is interesting. Corporate stock buy backs are an interesting topic - in a geeky way, anyway. They are tied to why October was a rough month for the markets, for example. It's primary beneficiaries are shareholders due to it inflating earnings per share as there are fewer outstanding shares, and there are opportunity costs involved when that money is spent on what could be compared to video game pay-to-win in-game perks that have questionable long term value outside juicing the earnings value per share.

Good for Bernie, raising the issue at least.

It is hard for me to imagine a bigger idiot in government than Donald J. Trump. If Bernie Sanders is an idiot, there isn't a word in the English language that can adequately describe the stupidity of DJT, compared to Bernie!

Bernie is the idiot. I mean, gosh, who am I to say otherwise when we have a President droppin' intellectual A-bombs like this one:

I don't see how it is idiotic to try and raise wages. Perhaps he should just shut up and be thankful our corporate masters pay the workers at all?
