Officer Singh is the shining example of what immigration in America should be. This is a young man who immigrated here legally. It was his dream to come to America. It was his dream to become a police officer. He worked hard to achieve that goal.
Officer Singh killed by an illegal immigrant, gang member who had been arrested twice before...but sanctuary city policies allowed him to stay. Great policy you guys... is this really a Democratic platform that you guys agree with? if yes, then by what merit?

I had always wondered what it would take for the Right Wing media to idolize a minority with a name like Ronil Singh.
Of course, of the many guesses this probably would have been right at the top of the list: he'd have to be killed by a brown illegal immigrant who crossed the Southwest border. The only reason they act like they care is because they think it validates their racist policy on immigration. The fact still remains that crime is far more likely to happen within the Trump administration than with illegal immigrants.

Thanks for the adolescent attempt to derail thread...but do you actually have an answer for question(s) in OP?
...
Or do you just need more Jergens and Kleenex?

I don't support sanctuary cities. At all.

What makes a sanctuary city a sanctuary city is local law enforcement not essentially being deputized by federal immigration authorities unless the person under question has a warrant or is a known felon. Specially, they don't notify ICE about people's immigration status or hold people for ICE to arrest upon request. Saying "sanctuary city policies allowed him to stay" just means he committed minor offenses and ICE wasn't notified.
If Subgenius wants to argue that this policy makes people less safe, which is what he's implying, perhaps he should explain why. A single example of an illegal immigrant committing a violent crime doesn't begin to establish that.

The Sherriff of Deputy Singh's department made this proclamation and as a law enforcement professional his opinion is a valid argument. But sure, your armchair quarterback status totes has you qualified to dismiss all that just to maintain your current entrenchment.

So, no argument then?

If you're keeping score at home:
Climate scientists: Not a valid authority on climate science. Citing their views is fallacious argument from authority.
Police officers: Ur-experts in all matters related to public safety such that a deputy sheriff's opinion on how immigration policy affects crime is all that is needed to establish a claim, even if that officer's opinion is contradicted by other individual officers or social science on how immigration affects crime rates.

The fact remains that immigrants, even undocumented ones, are less than half as likely to commit serious crimes (including killing cops) than native born Americans. Numerous studies have shown this to be true. There are significant issues to be addressed concerning undocumented immigrants, but increased crime and diminished security for American citizens do not appear to be even close to being among the seriously significant issues-except in the eyes and minds of die-hard, underinformed and misinformed racists and xenophobes.

Yup. But you see, it's obvious common sense that brown-skinned immigrants with imperfect English must be much more likely to be criminals than red-blooded US citizens. Everybody knows that.
So the data to which you refer is obviously fake news made up by liberal intellectuals. And (seriously) it is a weird fact that confronting people with actual evidence suggesting that their unreflecting prejudices are wrong actually makes them cling to their prejudices
more strongly than before.
