CNN analyst Areva Martin accused conservative radio host David Webb of having "white privilege" on the Monday edition of his SiriusXM program. David Webb is a black man.

Here's the exchange, via Itay Hod at The Wrap:

After Webb said that expertise and experience are what matter, Martin interjected: “That’s a whole ‘nother long conversation about white privilege, the things that you have the privilege of doing, that people of color don’t have the privilege of.”

Webb shot back: “How do I have the privilege of white privilege?”

“David… by virtue of being a white male you have white privilege.” Martin answered before Webb cut her off: “Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should’ve been better prepped. I’m black.”

Well, that was embarassing. And then she makes things worse by throwing her team under the bus.

One has to wonder what their assessment of white male privilege is based upon if it's possible to mistake a black man as having white privlege. Are all white people really more priveleged than all black people?

I have to agree with David Webb that privilege stems mostly from economics. However, we still need to take into account times when black residents of Beverly Hills are stopped by police and asked what they are doing in that neighborhood.

No, the concept of white privilege dos not mean that all white people are more privileged than all black people in every conceivable way.

Who is "their" in this paragraph? Anyone who refers to the concept of white privilege? Cable News Pundits? People who improperly assume that anyone pushing back against white privilege must be white? Someone else?

EA,

You're missing the point. The point was the radio host assessed the guest as having White Privilege based on his dialogue. The fact, embarrassingly enough, is that that White Privilege is misused as a cudgel by Progressives who, when all things are equal, seem to apply it arbitrarily to delegitimize an argument.

All that does is further along the idea that it's an issue, created by Leftists, to reorder whatever power structure they're attacking.

What point in Ajax's post did I miss in my reply to that specific post? I didn't even comment on the radio host conversation except to implicitly criticize the CNN pundit by suggesting she assumed anyone pushing back against white privilege must be white. What I commented on was a vague generalization that is almost certainly wrong by trying to get Ajax to clarify. I am virtually certain what Ajax is doing is arguing that because this person misused the concept of white privilege, that goes to show the use of white privilege is rotten. But because he'll only dance around the impression of a point, the first step is to get him to actually clarify what he's gesturing at.

The only other comment in my post is a direct response to his strawman rhetorical question, "Are all white people really more priveleged than all black people?" by saying, no, that's not what white privilege implies.

It seems like you wanted me to comment on the OP and are criticizing my post for not addressing it, but that makes no sense when you look at the context of my reply.

Hard to imagine another race based post by the non-racist guy.

Why not leave the argument at "privilege." Why do we have to include race when the truth is that whites are not always more privileged than blacks? I would argue that not all white men benefit from white privilege.
