I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one.

Donald Trump just spent 2 years waiting for a report on whether or not he received dirt from a foreign government to help his 2016 election. So his personal attorney announces he is going to talk with a foreign government on getting dirt to hurt a political rival.

I don't know how many tripwires this crosses. If Joe Biden's son was involved in something nefarious in the Ukraine, the United States Justice Department should investigate. Even Bill Barr couldn't sign off on this one. So the President was sending his personal attorney as his agent to pretty please ask the Ukrainians for dirt on Biden.

Rudy said that this would be "Very very helpful" to his client. If the Ukrainians do provide Rudy with negative information on Biden that is disseminated in hopes of helping Trump, this is a direct violation of the emoluments clause, because Rudy is requesting something that he already as defined being of value from a foreign government. It's nice when Rudy makes the case against his own client.

Eventually someone with the last functioning brain cell pulled the plug on the trip. This was Giuliani's brilliant defense on Fox News:

I’m not going to go because I think I’m walking into a group of people that are enemies of the president... I think this was a set-up."

So the trip that Giuliani set up was cancelled, because Giuliani said it was a setup. Notice it's not because it was a horrible idea, but a 'setup'. It's pretty clear that whatever modicum of control John Kelley had with Trump has flown out the window under Mick Mulvaney, and the approval process for craziness is getting less and less filtered.

That idea is so bad it must have emanated from Trump. I suppose Giuliani canceled his trip when saner heads explained how bad that sounds. Now Trump will just have to rely on Russian agents to get him rumors about Biden's son.

Well, looks like this attempt at collusion won't be fruitful.

Yuriy Lutsenko, Ukraine's prosecutor general, said this week that he had no evidence of wrongdoing against former Vice President Joe Biden or his son, Hunter, over the latter's involvement with a private Ukrainian gas company, Burisma Group, Bloomberg reported.

The development comes after President Donald Trump's personal defense lawyer, Rudy Giuliani revealed he was planning to travel to Ukraine to press the president-elect, Volodymyr Zelensky, to move forward with two investigations Giuliani believed would be politically beneficial to Trump.

One focused on the origins of the special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. The second focused on the motivations behind Biden's efforts to get the former Ukrainian prosecutor general, Viktor Shokin, dismissed in 2016. At the time, Shokin was leading a broad corruption probe into Burisma Group, whose board Hunter Biden sat on.

Giuliani eventually canceled his trip after facing widespread criticism for what appeared to be an attempt to push a foreign government to meddle in the 2020 US election.

I'm telling ya, cp. Give Giuliani enough rope...he'll hang both himself and Trump with it.

By now, the dishonesty, corruption, incompetence and even criminality of Trump and his sycophantic followers is so blazingly obvious that even Fox News and a growing number of Republican leaders are beginning to see it and condemn it. It is almost incomprehensible to me that even you fail to see it. Everything Trump touches dies! I suspect that even you see it, but for some dumb reason get more satisfaction from being an incorrigible troll than engaging in meaningful and honest discourse.
