Jerry West does it again

Wow
As a Laker fan I am bummed, but as a NBA fan and on the west coast I am excited. If the clippers get George...then they are no doubt the easy favorites, if they are not already. With Portland, Utah, and Denver on the rise it will be fun to watch.
Jerry West is amazing in being able to pull off the deals he does, and getting teams turned around.
This also speaks of the Laker's front office and that maybe the Lebron deal was not so good...that is unless the win. Nobody appears to want play with him, and his window is small.
No more cheap Clipper tickets either.

You could say that the city of Los Angeles is the tale of 2 Laker guards: Magic Johnson and
Zeke from Cabin Creek. The Lakers were the 'prestige' franchise for so long that management was able to hide the cracks in the foundation. Magic Johnson was a great player, but I'm not sure he was the right man for basketball operations.
Before joining the Clippers, Jerry West was instrumental in building the Warriors. He will do great things for the franchise. The one thing that gives me pause is giving up FIVE first round picks for Paul George. You better hope the future is now, because you mortgaged the future for the present. If George or Leonard goes down, the Clippers will not be able to build a bench with draft picks.

I am a huge Magic fan as a basketball player, but he was a horrible GM, and from what I have heard just part time. But beyond that the Buss kids are screwed up a once great system...but maybe they are on a winning track once again.
They resigned Rondo, a great leader and tenacious veteran (can’t shoot), now they got Boogie for a year on a gamble with a crazy high ceiling, but a equally low floor. With Kuzma, Davis and James they have a very good team...if they get a bonafide shooter or two watch out.
The Clippers are better on paper, and the Sixers are really good, but the Lakers are there also there, as are the Bucks. It will be fun and add in the Jazz, Bucks, and Portland...it will be fun.
I can’t see Jerry West without thinking of my father...he was a huge fan of Cousy, Chamberlin, and Chick Hearn...but Jerry was his man, I often get emotional when I see interviews with West because all I can think of is my dad.
Side note...he is said to have one of the foulest mouths in the NBA...I heard MF is Jerry’s word of choice...if it wasn’t so well documented, I wouldn’t believe it.

I liked the LA Lakers back during the 1980's. Those NBA finals of the Lakers playing against the Celtics were great to watch.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_NBA_Finals https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_NBA_Finals https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987_NBA_Finals I liked it better when the NBA finals format was a 2–3–2 format, but the NBA in 2014 changed the NBA finals format back to a 2–2–1–1–1 format.

There was a NBA classic’s game on the other day...I think it was 82. It was the 7th game of 76er and Celtic’s. It was awesome watching them go at it. “Chocolate Thunder” ...Celtics behind Bird came from behind to win it.

Jerry West clearly sold his soul to Satan when he was a boy.

Few men, a man’s man, demand respect like Jerry...at least in my sports and entertainment world. Off the top of my head...
John Wooden, Steve McQueen, Mohammad Ali, John Thompson, James Earl Jones, John Wayne, Evil Kenevil (I know), Denzil Washington, John Wayne, Johnny Carson, Kareem, Jim Brown, Ray Lewis, Jordan...People that walk into a room of peers, and demand respect. Interesting to think about. Almost forgot Paul Newman...no one was cooler that Cool Hand Luke!
