Hello Political Folks!

Take a look at the Democratic Presidential candidates and tell us, if they weren't elected P or VP, what cabinet position would you offer them? Who would you send home entirely? This is not a debate thread. Keep your insults to yourself please. No sketchy graphic images please.

Bernie Sanders
Pete Buttigieg

In keeping with your request to keep things serious, I will not suggest ‘WalMart Door Greeter’ for Joe. : )

Mayor Pete: I just see him with a little white hat and a bow tie making ice cream sundaes. He just has the face that I would trust behind the ice cream counter.

Of the candidates, I see Amy Klobuchar as being quite qualified for a number of positions. She'd probably make a very good Attorney General, but her committee experience while a Senator puts her in the running for Sec. of Energy, Interior, EPA, Ag, and possibly others. She'd be a no brainer to pull into the White House. She'd be on my VP shortlist.

Gillibrand for EPA.

I don't think there's a candidate qualified for Sec. of Defense or National Intelligence.

It seems like a dig against him to invite Castro to serve again in HUD, but his experience in Obama's cabinet makes him seem like a good candidate for it as well as Homeland Security.

Warren would be someone I'd like to put in a role that influences monetary policy, so while it's not on the list I was thinking about Fed chair.

Booker could make for an interesting Sec. of State. Superman as diplomat? Why not. Or CIA...

I feel like Mayor Pete is someone who is probably able to grow into any position he's given, rightly or wrongly, and could see him in almost any domestic-oriented cabinet position.

Really, I'm not feeling any of them for outward facing positions, despite my initial take on Booker for State. That may be because the debates and the news have been more focused on what the candidates would do at home rather than what they'd do on the world stage.

Candidates I'm not inclined to put in a cabinet position: Biden, Sanders, Williamson and O'Rourk. Different reasons for each.

The position most naturally there for Harris is AG, but I don't want her as AG. So I'm not sure I'd find another place for her, either. ETA: Actually, she might be a pretty good Sec. of State. Guess Booker is going to the CIA.

Joe Biden - Secretary of Health and Human Services
Pete Buttigieg - Secretary of State
Julian Castro - Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Andrew Yang - Some assistant position in the GAO
Marianne Williamson - White House Pastor
Michael Bennet - Secretary of the Interior

The rest need to stay in their elected offices.

Kamala Harris - Attorney General

The reason I'm not worried about her staying in her elected office: The Governor is Gavin Newsom. He's not going to appoint a Republican, and it is increasingly difficult for Republicans to win statewide offices in California.
