Microsoft and Google are investing billions of dollars in quantum computing research. Amazon is investing in nuclear fusion research and Facebook is investing in Breakthrough Starshot. Quantum computers have the potential to improve medical research and can help doctors find the cure to many diseases. I think breaking up big tech will do far more harm than good.

Reminds me of when my daughter came home sad-eyed because her teacher told the class that Presidential candidate Obama was going to outlaw bacon. She liked bacon.

The idea that medical research would suffer if Facebook faces antitrust regulation is ridiculous, but Warren does plan of using her appt. powers to have much more active antitrust actions aimed at tech companies.

Yeah, the teacher was just using political dynamiting to scare the kids into loathing Obama, just like the medical research statement is trying to get the rubes to loath Warren. Say a bunch of hooey and if the audience is naïve enough, they will believe it.

I interpreted that comment as "Obama is a secret Muslim; therefore, he's gonna outlaw bacon."

Actually it is not ridiculous, but ridiculous is your specialty. Ironically in the paradigm of "tech companies" there is a certain advantage to the concentration of information. Take for example the use of data in developing A.I.. Who do you beleive, between the US and China, has an advantage in the development of A.I. ? The former has multiple disjointed companies with some pledging to never cooperate with their government...while the latter has the ability to force every company to concentrate its data towards a single effort...like facial recognition....or a game of Go (spoiler alert for the big hint on game of Go).
