It was well-publicized that Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi, the anonymous whistle blower, and the Hong Kong protesters were all considered alongside Ms Thunberg.

The protestors were on the list for consideration. Trump was the top story maker, but I think Time learned its lesson from the 1938 choice.
