At the very least, it's plausible right-wingers would easily believe it, if someone like Hannity decided to push it. Right-wingers will believe anything, so long as it has no or only a tangential relationship with reality.

They layer who reports what acting as a self-sourcing apparatus. You can have someone dump a link on 4chan with some ridiculous BS, then it becomes an unnamed source, and then the right-wing news propaganda outlets report the story dropping a one-word hotlink within an article. Often this kind of stuff makes it to Fox or Drudge, and then it goes apeshit on social media.

And then you get Markk, iwtt, subgenius, and Ajax posting here unironically repeating their nonsense.
