Whether you view Trump as a lying and immoral sack of excrement, or as the Evangelical's Savior and Emperor of the Republican party, you must admit the singular nature of his Presidency. Nothing like Trump ever was and hopefully will never be again.

Your thoughts?

Trump awarded drug abuser Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom last night. Let's look at some of those Rush highlights:

Rush on Blacks in America:
“You know, I’m fine with Blacks in America, somebody needs to clean out the sewers.”

Rush on the genocide of American Indians:
“Columbus saved the Indians from themselves.”

Rush on Michael J Fox having Parkinson's disease:
"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act... This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

Rush on the NFL:
“Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

[To an African American female caller]:
“Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.”

Rush on feeding poor children in public school:
“If you feed them, if you feed the children, three square meals a day during the school year, how can you expect them to feed themselves in the summer? Wanton little waifs and serfs dependent on the State. Pure and simple.”

Rush on a 13-year-old girl:
"Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is also a White House dog?” (Rush Limbaugh, while holding up a photograph of 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton)

Rush on feminism:
"Feminism has led women astray. I love the women’s movement — especially when walking behind it.”

Rush on LGBT:
“When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult; it’s an invitation.”

Rush on women:
"Women still live longer than men because their lives are easier."

Rush on women protesting sexual harassment:
“They’re out there protesting what they actually wish would happen to them sometimes.”

Rush on what criminals look like:
"Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”.

Rush on Sandra Fluke who testified that women should have access to affordable contraceptives:
"It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We're the pimps. (interruption) The johns? We would be the johns?”

"For nearly half-a-century, Ted Kennedy has been walking that beach, making a difference for that soldier fighting for freedom, that refugee looking for a way home, that senior searching for dignity, that worker striving for opportunity, that student aspiring to college, that family reaching for the American dream," the president said. "The life of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy has made a difference for us all."

Agree or not, that was at least a valid reason.

So what was the rationalization for giving it to Limbaugh, a man who is one of the most vile, divisive figures in American history?

Trump is clearly just dishing out awards for anyone who is demonstrating absolute loyalty to him. It isn't like Rush Limbaugh has done anything worthy of merit in his entire life. I remember back in the early 90's listening to him talk about how he made less than $18k/year working a warehouse job as a manual laborer. Then he decided to do talk radio. Who would want to listen to what an uneducated, uncultured imbecile had to tell them? Republicans obviously. And right off the bat he was a genius to them. He talked about, even bragged about being uneducated, insisting he dropped out of college because it was a waste of time. Instead, he was going to make a fortune by providing a service of mass misinformation to those anxious to hear it in the guise of just getting a "different perspective." He brought out the worst of America with this "evil Liberal left" mantra. Before there was FOX News, there was Rush Limbaugh, nurturing ignorance and bigotry while convincing the masses that it was some kind of virtue. It is truly par for the course that Trump would put a signature stamp on this Black History Month with an award to this useless tool.

I doubt that Trump would succeed in manipulating things that he will stay President until he dies, but there is very little doubt in my mind that the idea appeals to him and that he would try to do just that if he thought he could get away with it. You know he expressed admiration and envy for Xi Jinping's success in accomplishing that very feat in China. I don't think Trump's expression of that was entirely tongue-in-cheek.

Moksha, that is a grim list of quotes you have presented. I have not followed the man closely but have been aware of his hostility to liberal views. He sounds very harmonious with Trump. It is not a big surprise that Trump awards him for paving the way for Trump's presidency.

I read his books, The Way Things Oughta Be and See, I Told You So, and I was astounded by his ignorance, especially about basic science and even math. He actually boasts of his ignorance and lack of formal education.
