Are there really four seasons?

Post by _Jersey Girl »

Well, actually, these days there are four plus one. The one being Jersey Boy Frankie Valli who is still performing with a new crew of back up singers (not the originals) at age 85. Probably the best thing that ever came out of Newark. Thanks to Joe Pesci, also from Newark. Without a doubt, Valli has one of the most recognizable falsettos in Rock n'Roll history.

A little stroll back to the old days. I mean, a cha-cha. I actually learned to dance the cha-cha to this very record with an adult relative in North Jersey. Barefoot on the carpet. I taught it to my kids with the same song. Currently teaching the younger generation. Same song. Why? Because it works. Try it.

True story: When one of the Four Seasons (Joe Long I believe) was getting married in North Jersey, I and my running buddies stood outside the church in a Jersey summer downpour to get a glimpse of the band. We were standing in a gutter. ;-) Warm rain water whooshing up to my knees. I don't forget stuff like that.

So. What's Valli sound like today? Let's give him a listen. Here he is last year.

Damn. Yes, that's him singing live. The falsetto is alive and well!

Okay so back to reality. Frankie Valli and the (fake) Four Seasons will be performing live in my general area this summer. I'm going. I'm going and I'm taking all the cha-cha girls with me. I want to hear that falsetto again. Live.

And dance!

What the heck is it with these Navy people? This is kind of good. Well, they don't know the choreography to My Girl. Maybe I can go teach them. :-)

I dunno. Something about guys performing in uniform. Stop it, Jersey.

I guess you're not allowed to pony in uniform. What's up with that?

I'm not fond of this music but still. Guys in uniform dancing. I wonder if they can really dance though?

Pay me no mind. Weather is getting to me.

Don't stop, it's enjoyable. You have me singing out now:

Oh what a night
Late December, back in '63
What a very special time for me
As I remember what a night
Oh what a night
You know I didn't even know her name
But I was never gonna be the same
What a lady, what a night

Hey Tish!

That song was popular when we were stationed in Germany. Played at the discos and base parties! We used to dance the 'the bump' to it. ;-)

I don't know what got me started binge watching the Four Seasons the other day but when I found out Frankie Valli was performing this summer I said--I'm there!

I don't know about anyone else but when I hear a song I can tell you how old I was and what was going on in my life at the time it was released. And yes, although I was pretty young at the time, I do go back to the beginning of the Four Seasons.

I'm very happy about being able to see him in concert this summer and I don't care who is backing him up so long as they can harmonize. I just want to hear that falsetto in my ear again only LIVE this time!

Thanks for reading! I often do threads like this just for myself. It's fun when I find out someone else looked in.

by the way, most of those Four Seasons songs are on my workout playlist.

For Tish. This is him 2 years ago singing your song with the fake Four Seasons. I'll take it!

Idea: What if I get front row seats and get a shirt that says "EXIT 117" on it?

Okay it's just an idea but still!

I actually do have Jersey Girl shirts to wear! All true!
