For the most bizarre defense of the President, I nominate Mike Huckabee, who said the following in the YouTube link in the OP:

[President Trump]could personally suck the virus out of every one of the 60,000 people in the world, and suck it out of their lungs, swim to the bottom of the ocean and spit it out, and he would be accused of pollution for messing up the ocean if he did that.

That is one messed up image. Seriously, a kind of Manga MAGA fever dream. It casts the President as the man who saves, but is persecuted by, mankind. Howard Roarke meets Jesus Christ.

This needs a Ralph Steadman cartoon.

Fox News is so incredibly two-faced, yet they still have people fooled into thinking they are a news provider.

Remember how they used to castigate Obama for playing golf. Trump spends over three times more on the golf course without any complaints from Fox.

If one is dumb enough to think Fox serves news, they likely think McDonald's sells food. Both provide the same nutritional content.

I am puzzled, Mcdonald hamburger has real ground beef, real pickle a bun with some starch, something like cheese and a potato stuff which has been cooked. This is quite substantial food compared to substance at fox.

Now I am not suggesting a person live on McD burgers but I have been saved from hunger on a few occasions by the bland construction.

... adding a further note,

I noticed in the link that fox did not actually blame Obama for ebola just said his response was unamerican and foolish while Trump's current handling is marvelous. This corrupts the idea of American and tastes worse than week old McD french fries found in the back seat.(also lacks the remaining nutritional value of those stale fries)

How did you miss the first two comments in the clip?

Trump: "It starts with Obama and lots of bad things are happening to this country."

Jesse Waters:"Obama has imported many dangerous things since he's got here. He's imported socialism. He's imported Ebola to America."

Icarus , sorry I was not wishing to criticize your reading of the comments. I was trying to focus on what to me was worse in that ugly collection of comments.

I'm glad Trump was in office and willing to make a travel ban. Themis and other leftist mantra during the ebola crisis was that travel bans are based on ignorance and fear. Do you still believe that about travel bans? As bad as this is, it would be a lot worse if it happened under Democrat rule.

The Chinese travel ban would've happened under virtually any President and the European one excepting nations with Trump's golf courses makes little sense and is widely criticized by experts. Meanwhile the incompetence in the administration, caused by both incompetent decision makers and prior dismantling of the civil service bureaucracy needed in epidemic response, has been astounding.

This is what happens when you put in power a racist, idiot game-show host surrounded by reactionary ideologues he needs to appease to loot the country.

The Ebola hysteria whipped by the right-wing media ecosystem in the 2014 to (successfully mind you) bolster Republican election chances is a significant historical event that I think belongs in textbooks. To me, it's the clearest example of when it was apparent how much right-wing media can drive the national coverage decisions of mainstream media for political benefit. The coverage was wildly irresponsible and died down almost immediately after the election was over. While a completely different subject, the closest analog is the "migrant caravan" stories of 2018 where a similar pattern played out.

The contrast between that period and now is so extreme that it makes you wince to think about. The present is like a bizarro world version of that period.
