Republican Voters Against Trump

I can't seem to stop watching these testimonials.
I'm not sure how to describe the experience, but it's what I imagine it must feel like for Superman when the kryptonite is removed from his influence and he starts to feel his strength returning. By just a little bit, each video restores my optimism concerning Republicans, what the GOP could be, and Americans generally. These are the people I want to pay attention to, not the MAGA crowd sullying America's reputation.

Here's a link to the group started by GWB officials.

It gladdens my heart to see these things happening.

My favorite:
"I'll vote for a tunafish sandwich before I vote for Donald Trump again."
In late 2017 I met a nice guy in the boarding queue for a plane to 'somewhere' who said he had voted for Trump. He was already clearly uneasy about that ... I like to think he will be on one of those videos soon. I turned left and he turned right, so we were unable to continue the discussion.

Schmo I think the coronavirus task force briefings is what started putting Republicans over the edge. There you had overexposure of Trump on a daily basis. You could see his blathering and bulls-hitting first hand. Every. single. day. You could see the experts giving the data, sound advice, making predictions and then Trump coming on talking horses-hit about disinfecting the body. If you didn't think he was a total dumbs-hit before, all you had to do was watch the task force briefings. And compare his behavior now towards the virus concerns over the past month or so. How he's all but dropped the topic, leaving American cases to jump to extremes, while he tries to figure out a way to hold rallies that bolster his ego for his own political gain.
Add to that his handling of the cases of police brutality. He had the audacity to name George Floyd in relation to the economy while the nation was actively grieving over all the cases of Blacks being killed at the hands of police. He debased state governors over their handling of protesters and threatened to bring in military to do the job when he had to know it was only grandstanding on his part. Instead, he had military brought into D.C. because it's the only "state" without a governor.
Look at how the coward had a wall built around the White House to protect himself from the protesters. Look at how he had peaceful protesters cleared from an area where he wanted to do a photo shoot of him holding up the Bible like he was auctioning off a Trump steak. That Bible photo op alone is enough to piss off any Christian believer.
And now this bounty s-hit. If it's not crystal clear to everyone that he's afraid to take a stand against such aggressive acts, kisses the ass of horrible dictators while mocking our longstanding allies, then the Republican party is more f-ucked up in the head then he is.
He's a f-ucking coward who has the massive stupidity to say he takes no responsibility as President of the United States and that this bounty issue is yet another hoax.
Mind you, these things have happened only over the past few months or so. This doesn't count everything he's done or failed to do over the course of nearly 4 years.
This is the guy who boasted that he banned travel to and from China. Now the United States of America is the s-hit hole country that got put on the EU travel s-hit list.
The broken record has repeated itself far too many times over the past 3+ years for anyone with even half a brain not to know he's incompetent and self interested. He's only got a few manipulative tricks that he relies on repeatedly. I think that people are tired of hearing this s-hit over and over and over again with no positive progress made in any one direction. Not even close.
I like that Pelosi recently called HIM the hoax. She freaking nailed it.

I saw something about that and meant to check it out (but got distracted by listening to one ex-Republican after another talking about how they will vote for Biden... like bathing in a pool of the most soothing balm imaginable).
Thanks for the link.

To paraphrase a hymnal type phrase, his house is built on shifting sand. And I think the exposure he's had over the past couple of months is what's done it for people in general. We were all put on Trump overload. If you can't tell that all he cares about is his damn self, then you aren't paying attention.
Meanwhile, we went over 50K new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. While he postures and preens, deflects and dodges, and tries to keep his head above political water.
To hell with him or to hell with us. You decide.

I agreed with your whole post.
And yes; Pelosi said what needed to be said, something I've said too many times to count (although I've always said his presidency was a hoax, or the idea that he was governing was a hoax, or pretty much everything he says is a hoax...
Hoax is his word for a reason).

I suppose it took a pandemic to put him on enough people's radar to really get a load of what he says for the numbers to start to move.

I don't think these new opposing groups springing up (Lincoln Project was first I believe) are the be all and end all, but I do think they are influential. The people I talk to in real life (who bring up politics--I never do) have already made up their minds based on the reality of what has taken place over the past oh, 3 months, when we have had nothing but Trump in our face while watching the country collapse in various ways before our very eyes.
The influencers can only help push more people over the edge. At this point, I'd like to think that Americans in general are looking at all of this thinking that what this upcoming election amounts to is do we want to die and lose everything we've worked for or do we want a candidate that will help us start climbing out of the hole we're in?
Trump so obviously isn't going to do it. He doesn't know HOW nor does he care to make the effort. He's right now talking s-hit, throwing everything at the problem but the kitchen sink to distract...he's desperate.
And while I so wish Biden were a bit younger, he knows government, world leaders, and he's not desperate.

That's exactly what I think happened. It put him in front of media every single day and exposed him. Then you could watch Gov. Cuomo's briefings and see the stark contrast between presentation styles. Trump was winging it with our lives, Cuomo was on every single detail of the fight against novel coronavirus. Cuomo intended to fight a battle and win. Trump wanted it over with so he could go on with his rallies--because the pandemic made him look bad.
I may not be as politically savvy as the rest of you guys but I know what I see happening in front of my face and lord knows there's tons more like me in the U.S.

I don't think these groups will move large swathes of people, but if they can nibble enough at the margins, and/or improve voter enthusiasm for Biden, I'm all for the effort.
Part of their strategy (Lincoln Project) I'm hearing about is not just moving voters, but actually trying to irritate Trump. If they can piss him off and get him to react, they say it only gives them more material to work with. That idea alone entertains me.

I wouldn't claim to be politically savvy. I'm learning as we go along, just like you.
