Has anyone else seen this inspiring video?

Vietnam is among a handful of countries to have reported no fatalities from the coronavirus pandemic. Timothyna Duncan reports on how the country, which shares a porous land border with China, defied the odds.

The success of this country, which is probably on Trump's list of "Sh--hole countries" is both admirable and heartening. They wasted no time taking immediate action to limit travel from China, just across the border from them, identifying, isolating and quarantining victims of the virus. Near the beginning they took care of those seriously ill. Their most serious case, who nearly died, was a British airline pilot who happened to be in the country at the time. The whole nation rallied around him when he was hospitalized, just as if he was one of their own, and spent $200,000 on his care. At one point they feared his lungs would fail him, and more than 50 Vietnamese volunteered to donate a lung to save him, if necessary! Fortunately, he managed to make a near full recovery without that donation, and neither he nor any Vietnamese died in the country, though there were other very serious cases. Vietnam has had only 370 confirmed covid-19 cases, 350 of whom are fully recovered, with 0 fatalities.

One of the comments on the video was:

"Raised their hand to donate their Lungs?" Americans won't even willfully volunteer to wear a mask out in public?!

What a stark contrast! How did we become a nation of so many willfully ignorant and selfish people?

A work associate has family in Vietnam. He and I have talked regularly during the crisis about the different responses to the virus between Asia and the US. We were barely beginning to work from home while his family back in Vietnam reported being under restrictions very early and with very serious measures in place. It was interesting then, and increasingly embarrassing as time went on to see just how stark that difference was turning out to be.

Trump acolytes like to claim the virus was something that happened on Trump's watch beyond his control. But that isn't true. The virus happened on his watch and he failed to be prepared for it, failed to take it seriously, failed to develop a science-based response, failed to lead in following that response, encouraged abandonment of taking it seriously, and even now is demanding actions considered likely to make things worse with forced exposure...none of which can be blamed on anyone but Trump.

It's like his acolytes don't understand what actual leadership even requires.

Occasionally I catch clips of baseball in an Asian country and I can hear my heart sigh.

And his acolytes who frequent this forum know deep down inside that even they cannot honestly or reasonably escape the conclusion that very few, if any, national leaders have handled the coronavirus pandemic worse than Donald J. Trump! If they still intend to vote to reelect Trump, they are hopelessly deluded idiots!

It's easy to mock the weird ass cult these people are in, but the more important takeaway is that if Trump modeled decent behavior like a decent leader much sooner, people who who are dead wouldn't be.

So true! The following quote from your link, in particular, is so painfully obvious that I am completely mystified by how many can't or won't see it.

Roger Stone's commutation was rubber stamped by 52 Republican Senators when they voted to acquit Donald Trump.

This is why we fight Trump and his enablers.

None of this would have happened if they had defended our Constitution, instead of a conman from New York.

I hope that the future political careers of those enablers is forever ruined!

One thing you have to give Trump credit for is that he's made America such a sh-ithole, few people are going to want to immigrate here. MAGA is apparently code for Make America a sh-ithole to discourage immigration like never before...

Yet ... if one of these clever and generous people was to walk along a street in some western cities, they would risk being insulted and even threatened as potential virus carriers, simply because their eyes typically have the epicanthic fold ...

My best guess on that is the prevalence of xenophobic and racists sh--holes willing and eager to elect sh--hole leaders like Trump who are determined to characterize nations populated and governed by non-white majorities as sh--hole countries.
