U.S. economy suffers titanic 32.9% plunge in 2nd quarter and points to drawn-out recovery
Same crap-show story. Democrat President builds economy, a republican jagoff comes along, slashes taxes for the wealthy, ignores the important things that matter, and runs the economy into the ground.
Dying to find out how they blame Obama for this.

Can't part of it be blamed on the COVID-19 pandemic?

Sure, part of it.
But China's 2nd quarter GDP was +3.2% and Germany's dropped only 10%. Like the Surgeon General said, we could have COVID fully behind us in a few weeks if people did what they were supposed to, and if Trump provided that kind of leadership back in February then we'd today be going to ball games, movie theaters, going back to work, etc.
But instead he lied about the severity of the virus, promoted fake cures because he knew that if he could gaslight the nation into thinking there was already a cure then the stock market wouldn't crash.

This country is learning a biological truth: The health of the economy is predicated on the health of human biology. We now have to shut down longer and suffer more economically because the government did not have a coordinated, decisive response to the Pandemic. People look at what is happening to the economy and say we have to re-open. We don't HAVE to re-open the economy. What we HAVE to do is figure out to survive while social distancing. That may require a temporary social welfare state that no one ever envisioned, for a minimum of six months of economic downturn that stares us squarely in the face.
Obviously the country was in for a major economic hit, even if Trump had responded correctly. Ironically, it was Trump's panic to save the economy the precipitated the move towards the early opening that destroyed the economy.

Awesome. With a response like that, you know it really hit a home run.

So you don't think Obama had anything to do with it? That's reassuring.

The people dying from COVID can't work anyway. The shutdown was responsible for this economic downturn and the shutdown alone. We've only been able to reopen even now due the slimmest of electoral margins in a few states. Just a few more Democrat votes and we'd have been completely screwed economically instead of back with a chance to claw our way back and salvage a little.
