Preserving and protecting the political class through generations

We all know how Joe Biden's tenure as a US Senator and Vice president helped land his children lucrative positions on boards for companies around the globe. What would have been once difficult for me to accept is that this is also true for Mitt Romney's sons. We've seen how Harry Reid can maneuver federal tax dollars for his children and grandchildren. I'd be interested to learn more about how the children of GWB and WJC have benefited as well. So why did Mitt Romney run for the Senate? Perhaps it gives him the chance to protect and preserve the political class against outsiders like Trump who might expose them.
I remember how in 2016 many on the right and all of the left claimed that DJT was a Democrat at heart manipulating conservatives with speeches about building the wall and telling them what they want to hear while secretly planning to do the opposite. While we now have proof that wasn't true of Trump, I'm suspicious that this was true of Mitt Romney.

I don't know about GWB, but G.H.W.B.'s son became president!

It explains to me why GWB will only open his mouth to criticize Trump, never the Obama administration

Romney himself seems to have been the beneficiary of being born into the political class.

But I remember Cheney criticizing the Obama administration.

Trump's wall is the main reason why I am planning to vote for the Biden/Harris ticket. The Trump's administration building of the wall is harming the environment around it. And the Trump Administration has been illegally funding the building of that wall.

I don't doubt that one bit, either.

Yes. The environmental and ecological impact of the wall has been mentioned before on this forum. In fact, I'm sure there was a whole thread devoted to it. Thanks for bringing it up again; I agree that is an important consideration.

Brackite did you vote for Mitt Romney in 2012?

Dr. Shades what do you make of Romney's abortion stance? Do you think as Mormons we were hypocritical to look past that so quickly? Perhaps it's just a case where if you want to be governor of Massachusetts, you have to demonstrate you're going to let Roe v. Wade stand.
Right now it doesn't look to me like Romney cares about seeing conservative principles in government at all. If he really wanted to see more take home pay, lower taxes, bring corporations back to the US, see the US become energy independent, he wouldn't take every opportunity he has to hurt the man in office who is the most willing to make that happen. It looks to me like Mitt only cares about getting elected and will say whatever gets him where he wants to go. We know Mitt doens't really want to see the border enforced. He'd probably go along with the Democrats sending stimulus checks, welfare, and free healthcare to illegal aliens.
Shut down the economy then blame the President for it. Make people dependent on paltry stimulus checks of inflated money. Use COVID as opportunity to further institute radical socialism. Michelle Obama said as much. What a terrible game plan for the country and our standard of living and yet it seems to be working for Democrats politically.

Sí. Back in 2010 in California, I voted for Kamala Harris's GOP opponent over her. But Harris won that election in a close race. While I didn't vote for Harris for CA AG in 2010, I will vote for her for US VP this year.
