Dear Perfumaniacs:

It is now September 20, and Ayano Omoto, stage name "Nocchi," turns 32. If you're new to the board, Nocchi is 1/3 of the incredibly popular girl group known as "Perfume." She's the one with short hair and almost always wearing shorts as part of her stage costumes. Perfume, for its part, is the official Japanese electro-pop group of MormonDiscussions.com. As luck would have it, tomorrow they celebrate the 15-year anniversary of their major record label debut.

COVID-19 be damned, Perfume, and Nocchi along with it, is riding high, having just released a new single and about to embark on an online multi-venue "Perfume Festival." So, if you have anything nice or kind to say about Nocchi and her impact or to congratulate her on reaching age 32, this is the thread to do so.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NOCCHI!

Happy birthday, Nocchi! I know the life of a J-pop icon is very demanding. You are always working so hard and for long hours. To succeed at this for so long takes incredible stamina, dedication, and professionalism. Kudos to you and all of your amazing achievements. You have earned them.

Kishkumen: On the unknowing behalf of Nocchi, thank you for the kind words and the appreciation. Truly, you "get it." Fortunately, however, J-Pop stars don't have the same "slave contracts" that K-Pop stars do. They get to have a life outside of work, within limits.

Moksha: My devotion, you say? Although I can only dream that she could ever appreciate my devotion (although under deep hypnosis she may be vaguely aware of my existence due to the fact that she heard me say "goodbye" to her and her bandmates when she walked by about four feet in front of me), you should look into the Facebook Perfume-verse sometime. The devotees there put me to absolute shame. We're talking vast collections of the most obscure Perfume paraphernalia imaginable, encyclopedic command of the most esoteric Perfume trivia you can (and can't!) think of, etc.

For just one quick example, her Facebook fans hosted a virtual worldwide birthday party for her.

I am glad that Nocchi and her fellow band members have better contractual terms than K-pop stars. I am also happy to know that Nocchi’s fans held a party for her.
