Mary Trump is suing her Uncle

Presidents have always had embarrassing relatives. Remember Billy Carter? But the Trump family dynamics get into a whole new level of weird.

As far as I know, Mary Trump stands alone as a close relative wanting to take the President down. (If someone knows of a similar situation, please share). Her tell-all book and constant presence on cable news are a unique phenomenon.

Now Mary Trump is suing her uncle. From CNN:

New York (CNN)Mary Trump, President Donald Trump's niece, filed a lawsuit Thursday accusing the President and his siblings of committing fraud in order to deprive her of her interests in the family real-estate empire built by Fred Trump Sr.

In the lawsuit, filed in New York state court against the President, his sister Maryanne Trump Barry and the estate of their late brother Robert Trump, Mary Trump asserts that for the Trump's, "fraud was not just the family business—it was a way of life."
The lawsuit accuses her two uncles and her aunt, a retired federal judge, of conspiring amongst themselves and with several other parties, including a trustee appointed to act on Mary's behalf, to give her "a stack of fraudulent valuations" and force her to sign a settlement agreement that "fleeced her of tens of millions of dollars or more."
"Rather than protect Mary's interests, they designed and carried out a complex scheme to siphon funds away from her interests, conceal their grift, and deceive her about the true value of what she had inherited," the lawsuit says.
An attorney for the President, who is being sued in his personal capacity, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Representatives for Barry and for the estate of Robert Trump didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.

This is state court, so no self-pardon is possible.

What is worrisome is how the President will react to another judicial burden placed on his plate. The choice for Trump is stark: Re-election or innumerable court dates. He will, in all probability, either die in prison or die while appealing a prison sentence. Trump knows that if he loses, he has a good chance of losing everything. At a recent rally he said that if he lost we would never see him again. Inside of Trump's narcissistic bubble, the survival of Trump and the survival of the nation are now becoming synonymous.

Trump now will not commit to accepting the results of the election. He wants to sow enough doubt in the electoral process that he can somehow get the election adjudicated in the courts.

So unfortunately I think the result of the suit will be to reinforce within Trump the idea that he must win at all costs.

The only reason he wants to be re-elected is to keep his sorry ass out of jail. I said that probably a good month or so ago. Of course nobody listens to me around here and of course, you said it better.

The walls are closing in on this guy and he'll do anything, ANYTHING, to win this election or drag his feet for as long as he can and he doesn't give a good goddamn how it affects the entire country.

I've never seen anything like this year in my entire life. One or two events? Yes. But not waves of sh-it rolling at us one after another until at this point those waves are coming minute by minute.

What's next? A bloody coup? I wouldn't be at all surprised if Stephen Miller took the mic on national live stream and announced "I am in control" ala Haig.

Regarding his interviews with Woodward. He didn't want people to panic. Yet on a daily basis he is sounding alarms while American citizens DIE and he does nothing about it and now he's not going to accept the election results as per his own words, nor is he committed to a peaceful transfer of power.

I can't help but see this as a somewhat selfish and ill advised move by Mary Trump. It tends to make her motives seem, at least in part, mercenary and vindictive. She may not have gotten as much of her fair share of Fred Trump's fortune when he died as she felt entitled to, but she is certainly not destitute or in need of more money, especially considering the royalties she is getting from sale of her best seller, blockbuster book. The subtitle of her book, "Too Much and Never Enough" comes to mind.

Certainly this will make Trump more determined than ever to cheat anyway he thinks he can get away with to ensure his reelection.
