It could very well be that public festivities will not be allowed in Times Square this year. If that's the case, here is my proposal:

• Block off Times Square.
• Raise the ball to 5 times above the normal drop point.
• While a giant holographic image gives a one-fingered salute, the ball is dropped, But no cable on the ball this year. Just drop the sucker straight into Times Square, smashing the shite out of it.

I'm actually assembling a bullet point list of 2020, but I still have 2 months to go, and I don't think we're at the end of weird yet.

I definitely think the mood will tilt away from 'Hello 2021!' and more towards 'Adios, 2020, you Mommy-Boinker!'

Here's to hoping that the end of 2020 will mark at least the beginning of the end of the weird, and not the beginning of the end of the world (by which I mean, not the reelection of Donald Trump).

If Trump dies this year, it will be redeemed.
