It's not a hit on her. She was just doing what she did. The idea that there are Conservatives bothered by Hunter Biden's sex life, or drug addiction, or dealings just falls flat because they've sold their souls for Trump. There is no higher ground, and in fact we've seen supposed Conservatives here wave away any idea that respectability has any place in politics. The idea that Trump, Giuliani, or any other Conservative at this point wants to play Family Values is absurd and laughable. They not only lost the high ground, but the razed it into a gutter.

I'll have to read your above post again later. I'm still thinking about what you wrote previously. In her defense (if there is room for one I don't know at this point) she was raised in a different culture, she met a wealthy man, she fell in love either with him or his money, or both, was going about her business living the rich life in NYC going to social events, etc., living in a nice penthouse and other properties. My guess is that she never imagined that he'd one day run for President (much less win which I do NOT believe that winning was even on his radar at the time). What I am saying is that all those years ago, she didn't sign on to become FLOTUS. I figure she hates it and while in any other marriage she might have considered that a deal breaker, I can't imagine how she breaks a deal with someone who presumably has her trapped and trapped good in contractual obligations the ramifications for opting out could be things that would harm her son. We have no idea how strung up she is in contractual agreements with him. I just know believe that he'd screw her over beyond our ability to comprehend it and I say that just going by his track record of contracts with business persons, staff, and his own family whom he'd rake over the coals on a moment's notice and never look back.

And yes, she probably realized that early on and still did "the deal". But she never signed on to be FLOTUS, of that I am sure.

I do believe she is a good mother. I do believe that above all else, she loves her son. That's gotta be a tough situation. I also think that given her behavior in public, she likely is repulsed by him at this point because she's not shy about putting it on display, and yet I still think it's a rock and a hard place for her.

Anyway, I need to disconnect from these present exchanges about the issue. I guess I took offense at that because we all have stuff in our lives we aren't proud of or wish we'd never done, things we thought would never see the light of day. And yet, we are not married to people who actually run for the most high profile public office in the nation where we and our past behaviors are dragged through the mud and examined on a daily basis.

She was fine living the good life in NYC and elsewhere. I suspect she hates being FLOTUS and will breathe a sigh of relief when it's over.

I'm dropping this for right now. It just bothers me too much and particularly when you consider the fact that HC (whose husband was getting BJ's right in the Oval Office) was such a popular candidate on her own. I would like to see Melania treated in much the same way because quite frankly, she is a private person and we don't really know who she i where on the other hand, we know exactly who DT is and he's the one in the job.

I think Giuliani's life would be an interesting movie. Scratch that. It would make a good one-year HBO show. Rudy has been a man for all seasons, just not the same man. Rudy would be a great role.
