Too lazy to go on a permanent vacation like the rest of you? I guess from your skewed perspective that makes sense.
Earlier you said you didn't believe in retirement and right here, you play your cards. You think that unless you remain in the work force you have no value.
No it's just easier for me to keep working than to have to fight and strain to save the kind of money it would cost for me to retire. Retirement for me will be cutting back to maybe 4 days/week instead of 6 days/week. I've seen many ODs who are now happy with that at the end of their lives.

Don't get me wrong, I respect people that can live a minimalist lifestyle and get by. I personally would just prefer working than having to live like that.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

If you’re doing something that you love, why retire? If you can make that work, then that’s great.
I certainly agree with that sentiment! I can hardly imagine a better situation than being able to continue working and earning productively as long as one can in an occupation one loves to do.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Ajax, your desire to continue to work is something I can respect. I hope it goes well for you. However you do need to take some consideration for the fact that unless you are fortunate enough to die suddenly a time will come when your ability to work will fade. It will fade partially and then at some point your ability to work will end.

I looked back through, and couldn't see where anyone highlighted this exchange with Warren and Powell from last month. Kinda spicey political porn.

I'd forgotten about that. Thanks for posting that.

I knew an OD in New Orleans that began his career at 21 yoa and didn't stop until he was 88 yoa. He passed away a year later. He needed a walker by the time it was over. I think that's the only reason he lived as long as he did. He kept moving and would not stop. His ability faded as it does for all of us. But one thing that never faded was his effort and his work ethic. I even saw a patient manage to make a living with his own business in spite of not being able to see the big E due to retinitis pigmentosa developing in his 50s. I continue to be amazed at what people can do when they want to.
