WORDLE -- A fun online game I recommend for you
"Wordle" is a word game that has become quite popular recently. I love it and play it every night after midnight.
It's simple: You have six tries to guess a five-letter word. It works like the old game "Mastermind:" If you guess a letter that's in the target word but in the wrong place, it'll show up in one color. If you guess a letter that's in the target word but in the right place, it'll show up in a different color (the colors vary depending on whether you're playing on your phone or on your P.C.). If a letter you typed isn't in the word at all, it'll show up in black. Helpfully, the online keys correspond with the coloring of the letters in the game (if that makes sense) so you'll know which letters to re-use and which ones not to.
Helpfully, it has an anti-addiction feature built in: You only get to play once a day, with a new word / game / puzzle becoming available every day at midnight in your time zone. Interestingly, the target word is always the same for all users worldwide.
I strongly recommend that you give it a try:

There are also versions in languages besides English. Even if you're not super-fluent you can often figure it out just by master-minding, and learn a new word.
I was a teenager before it was cool.

I have a group text message going with 16 of my siblings/spouses. We were doing Wordle and sharing results for a while. The New York Times version has messed it all up though. We need to get our groove back on with it.

Since this thread appeared I've been playing, and it's truly a good thing you can only play once a day.

Unfortunately I now face a Wordle barrage every morning, doing five different geographical versions plus Quordle and Octordle, where you get more than six guesses to figure out four or eight different words. I skipped Dordle (the merely double version) and have thankfully been able to draw the line at Sedecordle, the 16-fold version.
Now that Shades has stepped back can we possibly undo his out-of-control auto-replace censor? Separating the suffix from Wordle to make a little joke produced le. When have we ever had a big enough problem with acronyms to warrant nonsense like that?

Yes, please. I still haven't recovered from the time I wrote that during WWII George H. W. Bush served his country as a Lieutenant Jersey Girl.Physics Guy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 3:51 pm... can we possibly undo his out-of-control auto-replace censor?

I enjoy both Wordle and Quordle. I refuse to look at any others.
