The latest hearing establishes Trump as the biggest liar and scoundrel in American politics.

Trump has damaged American politics irreparably. The vast majority of Republicans have given themselves over to become apologists for crime and unrepentant tellers of lies. They have divested themselves of honor.

NBC wrote:WASHINGTON — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol voted unanimously Thursday to subpoena former President Donald Trump.

Members of the panel, which held what was expected to be its final hearing before the midterm elections Thursday, had previously said that they were still considering seeking an interview with Trump or former Vice President Mike Pence. Sources familiar with the committee's plans told NBC News of the subpoena earlier Thursday.

The panel's chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said the panel had an "obligation" to hear from Trump.

"This is a question about accountability to the American people. He must be accountable. He is required to answer for his actions," Thompson said, acknowledging the move as a "serious and extraordinary action."

The resolution to subpoena Trump passed with the support of all members, 9-0.

The resolution was introduced by Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who called Trump the riot's "central player."

The subpoena comes more than a year after the committee began investigating the insurrection and despite multiple members of Congress previously acknowledging that it was unlikely Trump would comply.

BHAM.

Ex-Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson tells the Jan. 6 Committee that she heard Trump tell Mark Meadows, "something to the effect of, 'I don't want people to know we lost, Mark. This is embarrassing. Figure it out. We need to figure it out. I don't want people to know that we lost.'"

Trump wanted to withhold information that he lost because it would interfere with:

1. Trump's continual disinformation campaign
2. Trump's continual grift
3. Potential civil and criminal repercussions because of his Big Lie and continual grifting.

ByTW, why hasn't Trump been sued by Dominion and the voting software company?

as an Australian I woke up early here to watch the Committee. Interesting was Nancy Pelosi's comment about the rioters deficating in the house. I can hardly imagine if they actually were able to get Nancy Pelosi or VP Pence.

There's a line from Trump's inaugural that has always stuck with me.
At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America. Through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other.
The bedrock is not the the principles of Democracy, nor the Constitution, nor the laws that are passed under its jurisdiction. It is a statement of blood loyalty.
The great problem of any civilization is how to rejuvenate itself without rebarbarization.
